Newborn Essentials + Giveaway
Ezra is our last baby. This week he took his first steps (finally!), and those newborn days already seem far removed.
Friends often ask me what my must-have baby products are, which is why I was happy to team up with Babies “R” Us and Pampers today to share some of my favorites for the first 100 days of life with a baby.
Pampers diapers and wipes: We use a lot of different brands of diapers and wipes, but for those first few months we only use Pampers. There’s something special about those white diapers (see above) and that little line. Plus, we found that they are the most leak-proof out there.
Diaper cream: You will need several kinds of diaper cream on hand! We have always liked Triple Paste, Desitin and Burts Bees.
A wrap: I found nothing made my kids sleep better than being close to mama. I used a wrap the most with Ezra and wish I had used it more with my other children.
A swing: We are huge fans of the Fisher Price cradle swing. It has a bigger footprint, but all our kids spent many hours of those first months sleeping thanks to that swing.
A bouncy seat: Nothing fancy for us. A simple bouncy seat was all three of our kids most favorite things. Ezra still loves to fall asleep in his, even though his butt hits the floor in it!
A boppy: I tried several different breastfeeding pillows, but none worked as well as the boppy. I also think you need a new one for each baby because they do flatten over time!
Bottles: Each of my kids preferred a different brand of bottle, so I always tell moms to not open all the bottles until AFTER they know what their baby likes. Elias liked Avent, Adeline liked Tommee Tippee and Ezra liked Medela.
Pacis: Only one of my three children took pacis in those first months (Elias), but Ezra started taking one around 4 months. They are a lifesaver if your child takes to them!
Diaper bag: Selecting a diaper bag that is right for you can be a challenge. I have had at least six over the course of my nearly eight years of motherhood. Without question we have been happiest with our Skip Hop backpack diaper bag. It’s the perfect size and easy to carry.
A car seat and stroller: For Ezra we have loved our Cybex car seat and City Mini Stroller with this car seat attachment. For Elias and Adeline we were very happy with our Chicco stroller/car seat system.
A humidifier: Hopefully your baby doesn’t get sick in those first months, but if he or she does, you will want to have a humidifier.
Medicines: You’ll want to have baby Tylenol, gas drops, gripe water and PolyViSol.
A baby bath tub: I loved just the basic bathtub with the sling for my little ones.
