Mercy Flip Flop Day
Yesterday was the big day – the day I taught the girls at Mercy Ministries how to scrapbook! It was so much fun. (The above photo is of me with just some of the girls who participated.) It took me about two weeks to prepare all the kits. Obviously I couldn’t get a personal cutter for every girl, so I had to cut the pieces myself. Other scrapbookers can imagine this was a tedious task – especially when you are cutting for 40 girls! Thousands of dollars worth of donations poured in from all over the country thanks to CKMB readers, so the first task was to sort and decide what I could use for all the girls. After that I had to start cutting, make my sample book and then cut the rest. Here’s my sample book, which was a flip flop of Matthew and me when we were little. How cute were we?! The sweetest part of it (I think) is that we are doing the same things in each of the pictures… reading, eating, playing outside, and being with our sister… so cute!
After teaching the girls for the 2+ hour class, we unloaded my car with all the donations. It was incredible. The girls were blown away by the amount of paper, embellishments, etc that people donated to the organization. Most had never scrapbooked before, but after making the flip flop album they were hooked. One girl exclaimed that it was like Christmas. I can’t quite put it into words, but it made the hours and hours of work worth every minute. So if you helped make this project possible by sending a donation, thank you.
