Words Every Scrapbooker Should Embrace

LIFE IS TOO SHORT AND TOO AMAZING TO SPEND TIME WORRYING ABOUT PERFECTION.

The bottom line: Imperfection is reality.

This is the part of the book where I wish we were face to face so you could hear the tone in my voice and see the smile on my face as I say to you, “Get over it!”—whatever “it” may be for you. It’s time to move past whatever “it” is that’s keeping you from enjoying and creating and celebrating the everyday.

For some of you, “it” may be fear. Fear of making a mistake, fear of someone putting down your work, fear that there’s a right and wrong and that yours will be wrong.

This fear can be paralyzing. It can stop you from creating entirely. It can cause you to sit and stare and get nothing accomplished for the two hours you have set aside as time to play. What, really, are you afraid of?

Twenty years from now, your family isn’t going to care the least about which patterned paper or embellishment or pen or cardstock color you used. They’re going to be so very happy to simply have a little bit of documentation from you—a little bit of your heart that will live on.

To know that you cared enough about them (and about yourself) to tell stories, to take photos and to do something that brought you (as well as them) joy.

You are a life artist. Tell your story—imperfections and all.
