Music Filled Weekend
Matthew’s birthday is in three weeks, but we celebrated it this weekend with tickets to two of his favorite artists – Jonatha Brooke and Annie Lennox. Both shows were awesome.
Jonatha played at the Belcourt in Nashville. It was open seating, so we arrived early and got seats in the fifth row, center. I had not listened to much Jonatha before, but wow, she was amazing. Unbelievable voice. Seriously, go check her out on I-tunes.
The Annie Lennox show was at The Ryman – one of the best concert venues in the nation. Needless to say, Annie was incredible. Such a strong voice and stage presence. People were on their feet giving standing ovations after every song. I think my favorite was Walkin’ On Broken Glass – probably because that is a song I remember especially loving when I was growing up. It was awesome hearing her sing it live. Honestly though, everything she sang was majestic and incredible.
This show was for her current international tour promoting her new album and her project, SING, which is to raise money for the HIV/AIDs crisis in Africa. Watch the moving video about the project below.
