What a Weekend!!
A lot happened this weekend. It started off by my Fort Lauderdale trip being canceled, which meant no sunny weather and no visit with Stacy! Total bummer. But, it ended up being for the best.
Saturday morning we woke up to a small blanket of snow! Nashville never gets snow, so it was fun to see everything covered in white. I didn’t take any pictures though, sorry. I decided to have a comfy day at home. I put on sweats and set out to design and make bridal shower invitations for my friend Rachel. Though I won’t be able to attend the April shower in Chicago, this was a fun way to be a part of it. I am pleased with the way they turned out. It was fun to be crafty for a few hours.
After being crafty, I came down with a nasty migraine, so I took a three hour nap!
Saturday night I decided to tackle our laundry, which was piled high. While the second load was in the washing machine, Matthew and I were eating dinner. We suddenly heard water POURING out of somewhere. Matthew went running to the washer/dryer closet and water was pouring out of the drainage pipe. GREAT. He turned off the washer and began unhooking everything so he could pull it out. When he pulled it out, to our dismay, the drywall was all warped and wet, showing that the problem was much bigger than we thought. The plumber is coming this morning, but we know the drywall is going to have to be ripped out. ICK.
Sunday I planned on spending a few hours at the laundrymat, but my sweet friend Angie insisted that I come do laundry at her house. We put a load in and then decided to go run to Target and Costco. (Side note: Costco is once again carrying their house brand of sea salted roasted almonds. BUY THEM if you have a Costco membership. They are AMAZING!) Two hours later we got back to her place, with more laundry still to do. We had a great afternoon talking, laughing and just spending some quality time together, which we haven’t done in a really long time.
Some of you may remember that Angie is my friend whose daughter, Audrey Caroline is very sick in Angie’s womb. I encourage you to read her blog, Bring the Rain. I know you will be moved by Angie’s writing and faith.
All weekend I have been reading Kabul Beauty School. It is a memoir about a woman who started a beauty school in Kabul, Afghanistan. It is an easy read, but still excellent. She is a captivating storyteller. I think I am particularly enjoying it because I just read A Thousand Splendid Suns, which is also about women in Afghanistan.
I also want to give a quick shout out to Stacy Julian and her new book, Photo Freedom. Stacy’s first book, The Big Picture, really changed my whole outlook on scrapbooking. I jokingly say it changed my life, which may be a bit extreme, but it definitely rocked my world – as far as scrapbooking and chronicling my family’s story is concerned. Well, Photo Freedom is all about Stacy’s incredible system for organizing her photos, how you can use it in your life, and scrapbook in a way that works for YOU. Buy this book – you will be so happy you did, I promise.
aw so sorry your trip got cancelled. And man I really wanted that photo book and wasn’t sure, but know I may have to get it.
