A Productive Weekend
What a weekend. It has flown by, just as I predicted, but I feel like I got a lot accomplished.
Yesterday, Angie and I registered for Elias. I don’t know what I would have done without her. I think some people may have been a little surprised that she wanted to register with me after all that has happened, but she has been nothing by loving and excited about Eli from the very beginning. What a blessing! We had lunch at Panera and then went to Target. After two hours of scanning more than 100 items, we were finished. When I returned the scanner gun to guest services, the cashier informed me of Target’s new return policy. It is awful! You can only make two returns without a receipt, and the items must be less than $20. No receipt or more than $20 they will not let you return or exchange the item!! Isn’t that terrible? It doesn’t even matter if you have the item on your registry. Hopefully we won’t get too many duplicate items and people include gift receipts. 🙂
After Target, my back was bothering me, but we decided to continue and at least get the big stuff done at Babies ‘R Us. We picked up Smoothie King on the way and were energized again by the time we got to the store. Though Babies ‘R Us is much bigger, it didn’t seem to take as long as Target. Some of the items I am excited about include the baby bedding, the stroller and the cool highchair. I referenced my Baby Bargains book numerous times at both stores, so felt that, combined with Angie’s wisdom, everything is high quality and very functional.
Last night we had a quiet night at home. We ate dinner, I scrapbooked, we read some magazines, then both got migraines and went to bed.
This morning we went to my church, Cross Point, which is doing a series called Plan B, which is all about what to do when you have shattered dreams, unmet expectations, etc (something everyone can relate to). This week my pastor, Pete Wilson, interviewed the Smiths and the entire sermon was their interview. Angie and Todd were very articulate and inspiring as their told their’s and Audrey’s story. I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house. I hope Cross Point puts the video on their website, so many of you can watch it. Here’s a video about the series.
After church and dropping Angie off at home, I came home, had breakfast and went to bed in hopes of killing my migraine (Matthew convinced me not to do my YLC RASAC community service project, particularly with how I was feeling). Two and a half hours later, I woke up, hungry and my head still pounding. Nashville has a big front going through it right now, and fronts always affect my head, so it makes sense… I decided I wasn’t going to let it ruin my whole day. I made lasagna for dinner tonight and finished my design team assignment for a new design team that I can’t yet reveal. :)Tonight I hope to spend a little time with Matthew (as he works feverishly on his deadline) and finish putting together the guest list for the baby shower my family is throwing in June.
Gosh that was a rambling post… hope I didn’t bore you too much. Thanks for reading. What were you up to this weekend?
new design team?? hmmm??? excited for you!!
i found your site thru angie’s, and i was watched the Plan B video – and i’ve listened to a few sermons from your pastor on your church’s website, and i must say that if lived in tennesse, i’d definitely be a weekly attender! i’m from lincoln, nebraska, but if i ever visit, i will definitely make a point to come hear a sermon in person! 🙂
We just had our first baby 4 weeks ago and learned of Target’s horrible return policy when we needed to exchange and return some items from some baby showers. The way we got around it was having family members return some items ($40 worth) for us. Hope you get gift receipts!
Excellent video of Audrey’s story. Do you know if any other videos from the Plan B series are online? Unfortunately I live hundreds of miles from Tennessee :).
Okay you registered for some awesome things and I hope you get them at your shower! You’ll LOVE that baby bathtub. The book Baby’s First Year is AMAZING!
Totally cool stroller!
Your nursery theme is the one I picked out if we have a boy (*fingers crossed*). Everything looks so chic and yet FUN!
