The To Do List and Syncing Life
Well, the weekend didn’t go quite as planned. I did get the major Target trip done, my photos ready for my Photo Freedom drawers, go to church and put together several boxes of stuff for Goodwill, but did not get rid of any clothes or clean the carpet in Eli’s room. I did go through a huge stack of magazines to rip out bits of inspiration and recipes before recycling them. I like to do this every month, but hadn’t done this all spring, so it was quite the task. My friend Melissa is an amazing florist and she asked me to come take some pictures of flowers she did for a wedding at Cheekwood. The arrangements were spectacular. Check out a few of the pictures.
Church was great yesterday. Pete started a new series called Sync. In it he started out by talking about how much of the church (as a whole in America) is stalled – people go through a growing phase in their spiritual life and then they stall out. Toward the end of the message he said: “It’s almost like we have forgotten that spiritual transformation is possible. It’s possible that Christ can be formed in us. It’s possible to love like Jesus loved and live like Jesus lived. It’s possible, but first we must want that. We must want that more than we want anything else in this world.”
I am stalled. And to be totally honest, I don’t always want to love and live like Jesus more than anything else. I am too distracted by too much stuff. And, I believe that many of you are probably in the same boat… and that’s okay. But let’s not stay there. Let’s get back in sync together. This series is going to last all summer, so this won’t be our first conversation about it.
It is my prayer that this is a season of joy and renewal. That my bible will be opened more; that my prayer life will be frequent; that people will see Jesus in me.
What is the season you are in? Are you stalled?
Peace be with you today.
I’m looking forward to this journey with you Jessica. As you know, I’m in the same boat as you.
Thanks for you honesty Jessica! I’m definately at a “stalled” point and feel that longing inside to be in God’s word more and learning more, but I’m not making the commitment to do so.
I’m thankful for the challenge our pastor gave us yesterday. As a church we’re going to read through the whole book of Psalm over the summer, with daily reading “assignments.” The point is renewal.
Praying for you through your journey.

You are right that the Word is crucial to getting you get you moving again. The Holy Spirit has not let me be stalled very often – but my physical challenges sometimes hinder His work.
God bless you at this time and rest in Him. One person put it like this – ‘are you in Leviticus – do you need Triple A to pull you out.’ I always thot that was funny. I think that focusing on the New Testament is crucial to getting moving again. 🙂 But that’s just me. We’re all stalled at different times – …
Recently I’ve been studying John 3. And after reading through John’s testimony v. 22-36, I read this quote in Matthew Henry’s commentary and it struck me as where I am so at…or more where I long for God to bring me:
“We must cheerfully be content to be anything, To be nothing, so that Christ may be all”
