Getting in the Groove
We really seem to be finding our groove as parents. Already, middle of the night feedings aren’t quite as hard (although, when Elias is wide awake at 4 am I am wondering what the heck?!) Matthew is a big help with diaper changes and pitching in around the house. We have also had a nice time with Matthew’s parents being here and loving on Elias (giving me time to write thank yous and work on birth announcements). We even have gone out on a few excursions – including his first trip to Hobby Lobby on Tuesday! Gotta start crafting young. 🙂
Each month I plan to take a “watch me grow” picture of Elias. I had been thinking about for some time what the item I would take his picture with each month – literally, since before he was born. lol. I know, I am such a scrapbooker. Anyway, when I went to that store that was closing, I found the most adorable plush Small Paul Julius chair for him. I am so excited about it!! And, for $50, I figure he will use it for several years to come. (You can buy them here, but unfortunately, they are not 50% off.) So, here he is today in it. You must admit, he is pretty adorable in it.
Elias is also getting increasingly alert. Look at those big pretty eyes! We think they are already starting to turn brown, like Matthew’s and mine. Is it too early for that? I thought so, but then Matthew’s mom commented that they looked a bit brown today too.
Well, he is napping, so I am going to get back to work on those thank yous and birth announcements. All should be complete by the end of the week!
I’m a follower of Angie’s blog and just wanted to say congratulations!!! I adore newborns… and God love ’em, they’re not all cute… but yours – GORGEOUS! What a blessing!!!
I too am thinking of what I will do for the monthly growth pictures of my boy when he is born…it’ll make a cute scrapbooking idea!
A friend of mine took pictures of her baby each week (on the dotw he was born) until he was a year old. Each picture contained a piece of paper showing the number of weeks he was and she creatively placed the paper with him for the picture and as he got older he would hold it or look at it, or eat it 🙂 It made for some cute blogposts.
Just thought I’d share the idea!
Your baby is simply adorable! Love the pictures!
Jess that is a darling chair! I can't wait to see the monthly update pictures of this handsome little guy. Sounds like mother & father hood is agreeing with you all. God is so good! Keep up the good work. Love, Rose in Nashville (HE IS DARLING!)
Jessica,
I have commented on your blog before about the book “Healthy Sleeping Habits, Happy Child”. Anyway, I am also a BIG scrapbooker myself, and I can relate to the monthly growth pages. My children are now 7 and 5, and I still get excited about new page ideas. Just wait til that first poop in the potty! (Yes, I do have pictures (literally) of the poop in the potty chair!
Oh my goodness! That picture of him sleeping is the cutest thing I have seen in a long time. 🙂 Made that long labor worth it didn’t it?
Glad you two are getting into the groove … 4 a.m. – he’s hungry – I know that being wide awake is dangerous – that dang flipping that kids do … Pray it doesn’t happen to you …
Thanks for the pics – he is adorable!
I LOVE THAT CHAIR!!! I have been planning our baby room since we have talked about having a little one, (since March). I want to do it in sock monkey’s.
He is so cute. I can’t believe how much he has grown since his first picture.
Such a beautiful family! I found your blog through Christina’s. I just moved from Murfreesboro, TN. I love the idea about the growth picture! We do soemthing kind of like that, but with a birthday hat. We got my daughter a princess bday hat and we get pics of her in that every year on her bday! She is almost 7 now!
He’s so beautiful!
I can just see it now how you’re going to be on his ‘first haircut’ scrapbook page! I have golden curls on my last son’s page, makes me misty eyed just to think about it again!
Aren’t grandparents WONDERFUL!
God bless your family on the upcoming wonders of parenthood!
The chair is awesome, btw!
Totally cool chair!!! When my first daughter was born we did a monthly photo of her, with different themes. Like in October it was with pumpkins, in February she was in pink, etc. But that chair is WAY COOL! Can’t wait to see the photoshoots!
Oh, yay-that WAS you at Hobby Lobby!!! Thanks for the little clue in your post!!!!! 🙂

love the monkey…what a cute idea. I used to love middle of the night feedings because I would watch old episodes of “CHiPs” on TV Land 🙂
Another thing that really helped me get through some of those middle of the night feedings or times when the baby wouldn’t get back to sleep for a couple of hours is to rent old episodes of my favorite shows from Netflix(ones I’d never gotten to watch the whole series of). I fed my baby in our room where there was a DVD player and TV set up already, and then I would actually look forward to a 2 a.m. wake up call, so I could catch the next episode on DVD! I’d turn it down low and make sure it wasn’t anything that was too loud or violent, and the baby was never bothered by it! It sure helped once I’d hit the 7 week wall of fatigue when the adrenaline doesn’t carry you anymore.
He is so adorable in that chair.
Sissy i love him i love him!! He’s soooo cute… i miss him terribly!!! 🙁
Ok, he is precious Jessica!
Love the idea of the monkey chair. We have a teddy bear chair very similar that five of our children have all used and still love to sit on!
His eyes can begin to show a shade of brown but are not 100% set until he is a little older.
Hugs and continued blessings!
Jill
He’s really, really cute! And I think their eyes can change right away. (but what do I know? all my babies kept their blue eyes.)
what a doll he is! so chub and cute 😉
He’s such a sweetie. I’m glad to hear that you guys are having a great time with him. I hope that God continues to bless your family.

Oh, he is such a little “pumpkin” in his bouncy seat. Love that pic !
I found your blog through Angie’s blog. I wanted to say congratlations! Elias is absolutely adorable! You both look like such natural parents. Thank you for sharing pictures of your family.

I just have to say how much I LOVE Elias’ little monkey hairline; my son Matteas had the same hairline when he was tiny and it was one of my favorite things about his look. Congratulations on finding your parenting groove, and enjoy your scrapbooking!
