To Elias
Dear Elias,
Last night was the season premier of Mommy’s favorite show, Grey’s Anatomy. I had been looking forward to feeding you and putting you to bed early and snuggling up with Daddy to watch it, but that’s not what happened. Instead, Daddy had to go work on a promo video for churched, and he left you and me to hang out. You were a bit fussy when he left, but I got you to calm down in your bouncer. You love your bouncer. You watched me while I ate some spaghetti. After being in your bouncer for awhile, you seemed pretty content, and I couldn’t stand not holding you any longer. I picked you up and snuggled you in my arms and within minutes you were fast asleep.
Snuggling with you was the best part of my day. I even took a picture of us together (shocking, I know.)
You slept through the last hour of Grey’s (it wasn’t great, anyway!) and as soon as it was over, I fell asleep with you. Daddy got home at 10:30 and found us both snuggled on the couch. You were out like a light and I was in and out of slumber, drifting between trying to stay awake and take in every one of your sweet infant breaths and dosing, enjoying the peace of the moment.
I won’t ever forget last night Elias. You bring such peace and joy to my life. You are quickly getting so big. Watching you grow and change is so fun and exciting. I can’t wait to watch you take your first steps, experience your first hug and hear your first words. But for now, I am most content holding you close.
I love you, baby boy.
Mommy
Isn’t that just the best. They grow up far too quickly and you just want to just suck the first few moments in and remember every single little detail.
He is such a cutie!
You brought tears to my eyes! I remember those days of snuggling and having your baby fall asleep in your arms. ENJOY EVERY MINUTE and take it in with everything you have! My boy is now 15 months and, though it is such a fun age, I have experienced his first steps, first words, and first hug and now they are past…..too quickly if you ask me! I wouldn’t be able to get him to snuggle with me if I tried! 🙂 They are so active. Enjoy each moment with your little Elias. Though each stage is fun, the best is when they fall asleep in your arms!!!! Boys are special!
It’s the most amazing love, isn’t it? I am so happy for you guys- babies are such a blessing, and quiet moments like that are quite simply heaven.
Enjoy it while you can….they grow up and MOVE away 🙁
Awwh. So Sweet! Your post made me cry.
Have a great week-end !
This is such a beautiful post. Snuggling with your newborn is the best experience in the world. Wait til he can wrap his arms around you and tell you how much he loves you. It will just make you cry with joy!
Ok, I’m going to be honest. That is a gorgeous photo and a beautiful letter and I’m so embarrassed that while reading I couldn’t stop thinking, “Wonder what she didn’t like about Grey’s?”
I may need an intervention. TV has rotted all of my senses…
🙂

Ok, you brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful post and photo. God bless you both! They do grow too fast so please enjoy every phase of his life.
Awwww! So sweet! Man I MISS those days! I remember people warning me to put my now 18 month old down and not hold him so much back then because he’d be spoiled. I loved holding him and I’m glad I did it as often as I wanted….I relate the “everday thoughts” post because the only time he’ll snuggle now is if he’s sick or extremely tired. I can still feel the way his little butt scrunched up and his soft hair felt, and that baby smell….sniff sniff! By the way I was a bit disappointed with Grey’s too. Can Meredith EVER get OVER her fear of committment? Can’t anyone ever be happy on TV? I guess then we wouldn’t have a plot, but jeez Louise!
Absolutely sweet 🙂
And yes, Greys Anatomy wasn’t the best it could have been 🙁
Very sweet post! You are SO right! Enjoy it, because life flies by… and it will be the little moments someday…
Everybody’s right. Soak up every second!
if i took a picture of myself from that angle, i would have at least 2 more chins than you.
i’m trying to not be irritated.
elias looks cute, so i feel better about the whole thing.

OOOhhhh! I loved those snuggley moments. Good for you for taking the time to really enjoy it. There is nothing better than having that little baby head rest peacefully under your chin. Sweet baby, sweet mommy!
Love, love, love the photo, but you didn’t like Gray’s??? LOL I loved it! haha
ok, you don’t know me but I’ve been reading your blog for about 6 months so I just had to say….Elias is SUPER cute!!!! I am loving all the pics…I have a 16 mo old and the time goes so quickly, it’s nice to see you cherish it.
I love your blog!
AWWW That is soo sweet.. I miss the days when my girls would have to cuddle with me when I wanted 🙂 Now they are much to busy!
And I agree Grey’s was a disappointment!
