My Current Obsession – Netvibes
Chances are if you are here, you like reading blogs. Many of you come here by clicking on the link on Angie’s blog. How many different links or bookmarks do you typically go to to read all your favorite blogs? Probably a lot. My morning routine used to be clicking on all those links down the right side of this blog, only to find that many had not been updated since the day before. This is where a reader/RSS feeds come in. If you don’t know what a reader is, watch the video below before reading on.
I have tried using readers in the past (Google Reader and Bloglines), but never liked how my favorite blogs appeared. Well, I have discovered an AMAZING reader called netvibes, and in the past two weeks, it has really changed by internet habits. I am able to read a lot more blogs and website and use my time a lot more efficiently. As a full-time working mom, this is so valuable.
I would like to encourage you to check out netvibes. On netvibes, you can:
- create tabs for all your favorite blog/website categories (I have more than a dozen including family/friends, scrapbooking, recipes, parenting, mommy blogs).
- import RSS feeds from all your favorite magazines, newspapers, etc.
- create a homepage to manage your twitter, facebook, gmail (or other email acct.), all at once
- best of all, see when all your favorite blogs and websites have been updated all on one screen! No more clicking on lots of links and going to lots of websites.
- and so much more!
Seriously, it has changed my world in the last two days. And yes, I’m aware of how pitiful that is, but it’s true. 🙂
I love that you can view the site as a web page and comment right from the reader. I have a slow computer so it saves TONS of time on page downloads. And I love the widget where you can have spaces to write lists and notes and stuff. I love organization!!!
how very fun! I bookmarked it so I can come back later and check it out. I love organization too, and I’m one that has bookmarks for every blog I read–sometimes it takes me over a half hour to get through them all not to mention all the other stuff I do online! Thanks for sharing
