  1. I never forgot the diaper bag, but there were a few times that I discovered that there were no diapers in it. Luckily it always happened when I happened to be at the store, so I would just buy some more diapers and wipes, and then I left them in the car. It worked out great until I would run out of diapers in the diaper bag and the car….then I had to go buy more diapers LOL!!

  2. No…not yet. But…this does reinforce the fact that I should never stray from Pampers! 🙂 Though my babe is only 8 weeks old I have found that pampers are the best! Glad to hear you guys stayed and enjoyed some awesome music!

  3. Been there, done that…
at a Major League Baseball Game!

I asked another Mom if she could spare a diaper… she was great and happy to share a handful of wipes and a couple diapers.

    Us Mommies stick together!!!

  4. so we have three kids in diapers. a few weeks ago…forgot the entire diaper bag on the way to church. oops. thankfully there was a baby there my four month old’s age and we borrowed a diaper for at least him. stressful!! yikes. never will forget it again..maybe.

  5. It’s been a while (thankfully) since I forgot the diaper bag since we are in nightly Pull Up days now!

p.s. I tagged you for a fun photo meme. It’s an easy one. I promise!

  6. By the time my mom got to the fifth (and final) child, she no longer owned a diaper bag. She just stuck a few diapers in her purse and called it prepared enough.

She also gave up on rattles. If the baby cried, she’d grab one of the older kids and tell us, “Find something to shake in front of your sister.”

I don’t remember what she fed the baby. There may be a reason my younger sister has always been so skinny.

  7. A few months ago, we went to my cousin’s house three hours away. I took the diaper bag, but didn’t bother with any extra clothes. And of COURSE my daughter ended up getting soaked with water (I don’t even remember how). Luckily, my cousin has four kids and lots of hand-me-down clothes around – so she had a pair of jeans that worked for my daughter. After holding her and getting soaked myself, though, I was out of luck!

  8. i haven’t forgotten the actual bag, but one time when my daughter had a major blowout (even in Pampers!) I realized that I had taken the wipes out of the bag and not put them back! Luckily I borrowed some from another mommy and it all worked out…lesson learned! I always stock my diaper bag the night before and try not to leave the house without it! (On another note, the diaper bag has become my purse, so one less thing to carry!) 🙂

  9. We haven’t forgotten diaper bag, but we have forgotten to restock with diapers and have left bottle sitting on the counter at home….

Once we got to a place and realized that we didnt’ have any bottles or formula. So we did like any other parent would…. we staked out any parent walking by that we could that had young ones and bummed it off of them.

    Woo-hoo!!!

  10. Aww,that is the worst feeling!A couple months ago,we forgot to take the diaper bag to church. My husband thought I grabbed it and I thought he grabbed it.Anyway,I had to run home to get it because Avery is drinking formula now and I knew that she would get hungry and my boobs were just worthless at this point!Don’t worry,it happens to all of us.So glad you got to go to the concert. My husband and I saw them last October(when I got to meet Angie and attack hug her:0)and we are going to see them next month.I swear if they are in a 100 mile radius count me in!Have a great weekend!Love~Tasha in Indiana

  11. I don’t think I ever did for one of my kids. But one of the kiddos I babysat for. Took her with me to help a friend drop of her car to get fixed. You don’t need a diaper bag for that, right? Wrong, big mess. I did have wipes in the car, no diapers and no change of clothes. But I did have a sweatshirt on that I wrapped her up in. We survived and it is pretty funny today.

  12. Hey Jessica! So glad to hear things went well even w/o the diaper bag!!! I just nominated you for an award on my blog! Go check it out!
    ~Abigail

  13. I always had my keys and my wallet in there… it was basically my purse when my kiddos were little. tried not to forget it! :o)

  14. I forgot the diaper bag once, but luckily, I remembered and I wasn’t too far away from the house. But, I have forgotten diapers or a change of clothes, and one time my daughter’s diaper leaked and she was wearing Pampers, so that wasn’t fun. I am a big fan of Pampers Cruisers and Swaddlers ( I wish they made them in a size 3).

  15. I left without my diaper bag on the way to Zeke’s first doctor appointment, two days after he was born. Since then, I’ve managed to remember it! Pampers are AWESOME, but the baby is allergic to them and breaks out in a rash. I wish they made the swaddlers/swaddlers sensitive in bigger sizes because they are dye/scent free

Oh, and One thing I love about breastfeeding is that I always have the food with me!

  16. My diaper bag is my handbag, which is really big. I always pack it before I leave the house and have been known to forget the “diaper” part of my bag.

I made an emergency kit for the car as we can sometimes stay out longer than planned so it adds a little more freedom. I’m still yet to add a couple of other emergency supplies, eg. bib, a little sachet of formula.

  17. Jess, as I read this I could actually hear Matt saying, “No diaper bag” and you saying Oh. my. goodness.

When Melanie and Kelley were babies my sister-in-law- had babies at the same time and she “never” brought a diaper bag. I guess she knew I would.

  18. My husband and I had to run to town to get parts to fix our furnace. We were so focused on the parts we forgot the diaper bag. I told my husband that I had a funny feeling our 18 month old would have a poopy diaper before we got home. Sure enough she pooped while we were in getting the parts so we had to run to the store and get a box of wipes and diapers that she is allergic to. There was no way she was going to stay in her poopy diaper and stink up our van for 20 minutes.

  19. OH my goodness! It happens to EVERYONE! I love having an emergency kit in the car! It has come in handy numerous time! So glad you survived your first “I FORGOT THE DIAPER BAG” moment!

  20. I’m sure I’ve forgotten the diaper bag, but worse is that I have been in the middle of a major diaper change caused by a major blowout in the middle of a staff meeting, where my colleagues were kind enough to allow me to bring my babe, only to find that I was OUT of diapers!!! I really didn’t know what I was going to do–go home? stuff something else in her pants as a diaper substitute? It was a crisis, to be sure. Then someone remembered that the church nursery had diapers and they went and grabbed some for me. Whew! It was kind of embarrassing, and now I keep about 7 diapers in the bag at all times.

  21. I’ve done worse; my first son was premature and never took to breast-feeding, but I still wanted him to get breastmilk so I packed a pump around with me everywhere I went. One Saturday morning we took a family trip which involved a long drive and a ferry ride. When it came time to pump a bottle(I had an adapter for the car) I realized I’d somehow forgotten the hose for the pump! My husband had gotten me an iced latte earlier and I was able to use the straw from my coffee to pump a bottle, but it was awkward. Yay boobs!

  22. You are just the cutest thing! We’ve got three kiddos (4, 2 and 7 months) and I have learned you don’t need a diaper bag with you! Yes, you read that right (and yes, I have TWO in diapers). I keep the car stocked with diapers, wipes, etc and some blankets. In my purse, yes purse (and it’s just a regular sized purse), I keep a diaper for each babe and a package of wipes. I also have have a small toy and plug (ie pacifier) for the youngest and a couple packages of snacks for the older ones. And they are in charge of their own sippy cups with water. (I nurse, so no bottles here, but eventually, I’ll also pack just a bottle with water for the baby.)

However, for Church, we do have a special bag. This one has a couple diapers, wipes and small toys, coloring books, puzzles, etc for entertainment. And before we head out, we add a few snacks and water.

After the second came along, I realized I couldn’t haul with me a diaper bag in addition to my 2 kids and purse. And I also realized that I rarely needed anything more than wipes and a diaper! And if the idea of forgoing a diaper bag is tough, try finding a smaller *cute* bag, fill it with the nessecities and add your purse stuff to it.
