Does ‘Ah goo’ count as memorable? It was for us. Also memorable recently was our son cooing at the top of his lungs after he had stood up by the side of his crib after bedtime.

I have one sweet boy who is turning 6 months tomorrow..and although all he does right now is coo and babble I can’t wait to write down all of the sweet/neat/crazy things he says.
P.S. You basically got me started on scrapbooking and I just want to say thank you. This has been an immeasurable joy for me to record all these precious memories. My boy Avi loves to eat the sides of books too!

I have a quote, from my grandson….while we were all sitting around eating dinner at Christmas time (entire family!)
The ‘kids’ were sitting at their own little table…4 yr old, 3 yr old and a 2 yr old. When there is a lull in conversation and hub bub…you hear this from the 4 yr. old to his 3 yr. old cousin….”Hey Noah, save money, live better…Walmart!”….very random, but sooo cute. We adults had a good laugh. By the way…I think that Elias gets cuter every day!

I’ve got a couple of cute quotes to share. First a little background. My 3 year old daughter knows a little bit about heaven, but as it is such a “big” concept, her knowledge is not complete. Our dog “Bobo” died last year. A few months back, one of our fish died. We took the fish to the toilet and flushed him. Zoe questioned this, and we told her the fish was going to heaven. She thought about it for a minute and then asked, “Mommy, did you flush Bobo?” :o)
The next story also involves heaven. The “people” Zoe knows that are in heaven are her grandfather “Pat” and her dogs Bobo and Max. She is also aware that Jesus and George Washington are in heaven. We were leaving the grocery store one day and smelled chicken. Zoe was quick to say, “Bobo and Pat and George Washington and Max and Jesus are eating chicken!!!”

When my son was about 7 he was on a little league team and all the kids were scrambling around the coach at a game to see if they could bat first. Well Dakota looked at this and jumped up on the bench and said, “The first shall be last and the last shall be first.” Cracks me up stil. I love that kid ~~ who is now 16 and still very quotable!!

Funny quote: It would have to be when my niece was scolding us adults for swearing during a basketball game. She called a family meeting [she was 3] and told us she had heard bad language, proceeded to tell us the exact words she had heard, and then said, “In THIS family we use loving words. Like, good job, I love you, your hair is pretty!”
Even though she’s 16 now, we still tell each other “your hair is pretty” when we want to swear at them.

One day my 5 year old son found a dandelion in our yard and went to make a wish before he blew on it. I heard him very quietly, and very seriously say, "Oh how I wish I could be a LIGHTNING man!"

When my daughter was three we were in the supermarket and came out with two priceless gems. she looked at an elderly woman and remarked, “She shouldn’t be driving!” and then after passing another woman she said, “she smells like mom Mom.” the woman was wearing the same perfume as her grandmother.
Expecting our first in June, so nothing quotable, YET. I’d still love a copy!!
Child is not quite quotable yet…he will be two in July but I know he will start getting MUCH more verbal soon. I would LOVE that book! I am also a scrapbooker and have to record EVERYTHING! What a great idea!

The other day my three year old son was outside throwing a tennis ball for the neighbor’s dog to fetch. I asked him what he was doing and he responded, “I pwayin batter batter baseball wiff my tennis shoe ball and Hunter (dog).”

My little was soo funny when she was smaller. She is 5 now, but I also have an 8 week old. Anyway, once while we were at my mom’s, she served meatloaf. My daughter took one bite, and said “That’s not brownie!” We all busted out laughing. It was hilarious.

While I don’t have any children YET, I have a nephew that loves to say the most quotable things (he’s 3 1/2) – most recently he goes “aunt ashwee, i have missed you so much!” It would’ve been cute to have this book from when he first started saying actual words but if I win, I’ll just save it for my own children
he’s so cute!!! my daughter is really big into polka dots and dresses. so, we were at marshall’s the other day, so went over to the dresses, picked one out and said “i NEED this COLKA-DOT dress for my party!” (she just turned 3) first, how cute is COLKA-DOT?! second, party? what party?
My son is just really getting to the point where he can say short phrases and he usually cracks us up. But I’ve never gotten them down on paper so please count me in on the drawing for this book. For his 2nd birthday, he kept saying it was his “Happy Party” and “Happy Cake.” I thought it was so cute.

My son Rylan was almost 3 and I was reading him a magazine. The article said if you could blink 1 eye, you were a “winker”, if not, you were a “blinker”. I asked him which one he was. He thought about it for a moment, got a really cute look on his face, and said “Umm…a stinker”

I would love a book. My son is 4 and always saying the cutest things but I forget them by the time I get home so I don’t have any written down.

When 2 of my sons were 3 and 1, my oldest Sam would say, “I want to lift up his chin and kiss his yips.” We still call our mouths yips around here, because we thought that was so darn cute!
I wish I had carried around a tape recorder for the past 5 years…there are so many random things that come out of my girls mouths that I would love to hear again. (it would also help me remember them!)
What a great book! The most recent quote I can think of happened last week with my 19 mos old. She is obsessed with those plain Nature’s Path toaster pastries and will climb up into our pantry to try to get her hands on them. I finally got one for her and asked “will this make you happy?” she repeated “yes make you happy” and now every time she wants one she calls them “make you happy’s”. I guess it’s the little things! Enjoy your little one!

I work with children with autism so I probably could come up with a list. My favorite was at a camp I asked a little boy if he wanted to do the electric slide (the dance), and he being very literal replied with “Why would you ever want me to go on an electric slide?” and proceeded to run away!
My 17 month old is just starting to say cute things. She calls boogers “bubbles” and little things like that. The best story I have though is about a little boy I used to babysit. He was 3 and potty training and his Granny took him to the bathroom in a restaurant. Now Granny had only had girls, so didn’t really know what to expect with a little boy. When Hunter was all done peeing, Granny handed him some t.p. He gave her a very condescending look and said “GRANNY! You don’t WIPE it, you SHAKE it!”

My kids say some of the craziest things! I have two girls (10 and 5) and a new baby boy (2 months old), and wish I’d written down more of what the girls said as babies. Some recent things they’ve said are:
Lindsey (10) told me that Carter has “cinnamon roll hands” because he always has them in a little fist and the top looks like a cinnamon roll!
Emily told me today, “Carter is the next big thing. Every girl wants one.” She’s always saying something totally off the wall and funny!

My 2 1/2 yr old son says, It’s delicious. But it comes out selicious. The best part is he throws his hands in the air and shouts it.
My daughter who is 11 months, she says goola, we aren’t sure what it means but she says it all the time.
She also does something that isn’t audible, but when we tell her no no, she shakes her head because she knows it’s a no no.
A sure way to get comments: ask mamas to write about their babies!!
Okay, so I have a four year old son, Jackson, and a two year old son, Cooper James. They rule. Completely. And, they’re the funniest people I know. But, mostly, they’re the best truth-tellers in my life. Here are two submissions:
Last week, we were driving somewhere, and my four year old asked why I sit at the front of the church, instead of in the pew with him. (P.S. I’m a Methodist Minister, which entitles me to lots of polyester in my wardrobe, and special reserved seating on Easter Sunday.) Many of my friends are also clergy, and Jackson is pretty accustomed to being a PK so far. So, I explained that I sit up front with Reverend Jimmy, Reverend Phillip and Reverend Josh so that we can be close by to lead worship.
He paused and said: “I didn’t know boys could be Reverends.”
I consider the stained glass window cracked! J knows that most of my girl-friends are Reverend Kate, Reverend Jessica, or the like. His world is totally different than any we’ve known before. And I love it.
Second submission: Cooper, my two year old, stopped me one night as I was tucking him in and saying goodnight.
Cooper: Mom! I wanna tell you a secret!
Me: Okay, Bean, what is it?
Cooper: (whispered) Sponge Bob Square Bum!

My 3 year old daughter’s funniest quote is actually a song. At Christmas time she went around singing “Jingle bells, Jingle bells, Jingle all the way. SoMuch fun it is to ride in a Walmart horse and Sleigh!” I keep track of the funny (and sometimes sad) things she says on a calender so that I can put it in her baby book at a more convenient time. What a great idea to have a separate book for ALL those funny sayings! My 18 month old son (whose middle name is Elias!)is starting to really talk now so I’m going to need to get 2 books!

My 2 1/2 year old daughter has a hippo puppet that she plays in the bathtub with, and last night, she said, “Mommy, may I have my pithameepotopus?” Too funny!
I’m 4 weeks away from having my first child. So no quotables yet. But if I get the book, I look forward to jotting them down!
So, my girl is only 2. so she doesn’t say many sentences. BUT, there is a Veggie Tales song that says “If it doesn’t have a tail it’s not a monkey”. So, when she sees an animal that has a tail, she says “Doggie, tail.” then she says “Mommy? Tail?” (“No, honey, mommy doesn’t have a tail.”) “Daddy? Tail? ….

My little Lauren will be 1 in 2 weeks and she’s mostly babbling still but does say “bye-bye” and I’m really pretty sure she said “Amen” after me the other day when we said our lunch prayer! This book would be so great to keep up with all of the quotes to come!
This book looks so cute! I would love to have it. My daughter is 9 and has said so many things that are so cute. She (at about the age of 6) “wants to talk to God, but doesn’t know his number. This was so cute, because my husband and I had been married about 6 months and had been going to church for about 3 months. It was nice to see her having that call to talk to him.
That is such a cool book! I always write their cute sayings down on post it notes, fully intending to put them in a scrapbook someday, but I find I have stacks of postys that I can’t decipher anymore…. One funny thing I remember is the other day at dinner my 6 year old was making noises in his milk adn I told him that was not funny – then my 2 year old looked me right in the eye adn said, “That IS Funny!”
My 2yo son says funny things all the time! But this is the only one I can remember at the moment. It was a conversation between him & my husband:
My husband: Are you poopy?
Solomon: No.
My husband: Are you lyin'?
Solomon: ROAR!
I have another story, but it didn't involve my kids. Funny nonetheless! During dinner with some friends I excused myself to the restroom. There were 2 little girls in there, probably around 6-7 yrs old. I started for the first stall when the youngest stopped me & said, "This is the kids' toilet. You have to go use the grown-up one down there," & pointed to the handicap stall! She was too cute

My little guy is 10 months, so nothing to quote yet…however, I love when he babbles mamamamama. When my nephew was 3 I called him “my little pumpkin” and his response was “I not a pumpkin, I Haden.” He is almost 6 now and that is still my favorite story.
Nolan is only 10.5 months, but one morning he woke up, and knowing I am not the one who will get him out of bed, he tapped on his dad’s shoulder and said dada dada dada until my husband woke up and got up with him.
Wow, I have so many funny comments to choose from. A few weeks ago at church, my 3 year old daughter was dropping her cheerios on floor and stepping on them. Once we noticed, we told her that she cannot do that. The next week, she looked into the aisle and did not see her cheerios and said, “Look Mommy, Jesus cleaned up my cheerios.”
Wow, this book is soooo cool. I can’t tell you how many times I forget to write down what my boys have said. In March we had our first good snow. It was actually the first time my boys 5 and 3 had ever played in the snow. Of course, it started to melt very soon. My 5 year-old said, “Mommy, why is God wasting all the snow.”

Okay so I have 2 kids, 5 and 2. They both say things that crack us up, I’ve been writing them down forever.
A few of my favorites Parker has said:
“I don’t care to me” — it was her cross between I don’t care and it doesn’t matter.
“Be Hush” for be quiet.
“Aligator” for elevator.
Grant is not as big of a talker as his sister but here’s some of my favorites of his …
“Mickey House” for Mickey Mouse,
“Par-ter” for his sister Parker and everything is “Pink” if you ask him what color something is. All tigers are “GO TIGERS!” whether or not they have our school logo.
I hope you enjoy these quotes as much as we do.
I so wish I had the book a year ago – I honestly thought I would never forget the cute things my daughter said – but guess what – everytime there’s a new cute saying – I forget one. Never too late to start.

My little niece started this habit of saying “I’m going to shoot you.” To which my mom told her, “alaina, you’re a nice girl nice girls don’t shoot people.”
Her response?
“I’m not a nice girl… I’m going to poop on you!”

lets see- the most recent funny thing my 3 year old said— he is really into learning how to pause music or DVD (helps to make a smooth transition into doing something else) and we call it “Freezing”. Well on the way to mother’s day out we were listening to the Pinnochio Music CD. He went in and told his teachers we “froze Jiminy Cricket in the car”. They looked at me like i was crazy and i had to explain the whole story like i did above. Their little minds are so funny sometimes!
I’m not a momma yet, but some day I would LOVE to use that book. This morning the four year old I babysit for told me that “Boys are straight and girls are curvy” and that she couldn’t wait until she was curvy. So Cute!

I don’t have a child YET (working and praying hard on that), but I am a preschool teacher and have heard some whoppers. This is a recent discussion I had with one of my students who I will call “Johnny:”
Me: Johnny, what do you want to be when you grow up?
J: A parent.
Me: Why do you want to be a parent?
J: So I can punish people when they are bad.
Me: OK, draw me a picture of you being a parent.
(Johnny draws a picture of a big person with big hands and a little person next to him.”
Me: Tell me about your picture.
J: This is me (pointing to the big person) and I am punishing this kid because he kicked someone else in the weiner.
It was hard not to laugh. Johnny has some middle-child issues.
Okay, so I was babysitting a 4 year old boy one day and I was talking to my mom on the phone and I told her that i had the cutest picture of my daughter and I was going to blow it up. They 4 year old boy that I was watching starts bawling so hard and so uncontrollable. I tried and tried to find out what was wrong. When he finally stopped crying, he said “Please don’t blow up Micah, I will take her home with me.” I started laughing and tried to explain to him that I was going to make the picture bigger, not blow her up. Thanks for your blog! I love it!
What a neat idea… I LOVE this book!! My son is just now picking up on tons of words and repeating everything that we say…. He hasn’t said any “quotes” quite yet, but I have a feeling they will be coming real soon!! This book would be great to have at the ready

My son saw a snail on our step the otehr day and we talked about it (he’s only 3 1/2) and he finally stood up and said, “I snail, my name is Aidan!” then we decided to name the snail…he decided on “snail banana peel!” Only a 3 1/2 year old could come up with something so clever!!
LOVE this book and LOVE your blog. My husband and I took our two daughters (3 and almost 2) to the animal shelter in hopes of getting a kitten. They didn’t have any but we did go through the long row of kenneled dogs. We were the only ones there and as we were walking by my daugher (3) stopped and looked a dog straight in the eye and said “Hey DOG! Watch me tap dance!” and proceeded to show the dog her tap routine like it was the most normal thing in the world to say to him.
What a fun gift…could also be a good one for a teacher to remember all the funny comments that their students make!
This morning I was wearing a cute new spring dress to school (I teach first grade). It has a keyhole circle cutout just below the neckline. I picked my 2 year old up for one last hug before I headed out the door, and he asked, “Mommy, what’s dat??” and pointed to the circle. I told him it was part of my dress. He looked puzzled and said, “Mommy, why dat DOOR on your dress?” then stuck his hand in it! Cracked me up!
When my daughter was about 2 1/2 I was talking to her about Jesus and told her that He lives in her heart. She looked very concerned and asked “me eat Jesus?”
Our 6 year old daughter that is in love with her daddy came up to me today and said “don’t talk to karla mommy (she is a teenager from church that is like their big sister), and I said why and she said “because she just called my pastor daddy fat and that is not nice, because he is SEXY!!!

Isavbelle isn’t old enough to have said anything quotable yet (just 16 months old). However last week we got baby ducks on our farm and when one of the ducklings was 2 inches from her face she screamed “QUACK!”. Also later on our daily farm tour she said “they eating” while watching the cows eat! I was in AWE!
On Inauguration Day, I was telling my 3 year old that Obama was the new president. She said, “Oh! I LOVE Obama! He can push me on the swings!”
Jessica & Elias, that book looks amazing…My son turned 3 in Feb and I am a scrapbooker as well…David is a delayed talker and has Dyspraxia where the co-ordination it takes to say words makes it sometimes hard to talk but he is coming along in leaps and bounds and I would love a book to record everything that I have been writting down…
His Daycare teacher last week said to him did he want to go to the toile and he said "No me bn areadie" huge huge sentance and progress from him and she rushed around telling all the teachers…
Kyra is still at an age where she can be in the room while I’m getting dressed and the other she asked me “Mommy, you need to buy me a bra?”:) Wants to be like mom so much – hopefully that continues when she’s actually at a bra-wearing age.
My 3-year-old girl loves watermelon. While eating a slice, she said “This watermelon tastes so good it makes me proud!”.
My little man isn’t quite old enough to be talking yet, however a few years ago my nephew said something that has stuck with me. We were outside, just the two of us and he said “Shh..don’t tell anyone, but I’m really Peter Parker” (AKA Spiderman). It was so cute, he said it like it was 100% true.
I think it is adorable when young talkers say things like “I lul you” for I love you. My older daughter would say ham-gu-ber for hamburger and our youngest would say “lolly” for our dog Polly. I am sad that they have outgrown that!
I have so many. I’ll only give you one though.
My daughter who was 18 at the time told her little brother, 5, “You sure are a bossy little booger.” He replied, “I’m practicing for when I grow up.”

Joseph is talking up a storm right now….well, okay talking up a storm as a 1 year old can…. He can do pretend sneezes….saying “ahhhh chooo”….signing and saying “all done”…and telling us what noises the cow, the sheep, the dog, and the cat make…still doesn’t have the duck down quite yet….

What a great idea! One of my favourite quotes is more a story…my 2 yr old son wanted to be my mom for the day, and so he was trying to take care of me. He decided that it was lunch time, and had me sit down to eat…and then with a very serious look on his face, he raised his hands and said, “But Mommy, I have no food for you!” He was so concerned that he had no food…and such an earnest tone to his voice made my heart melt.
This book would be fantastic…I have quotes written in so many places around my house, I’ll never find them!
I have never seen this book but would have loved to had it this year for my 6 year old. She’s in kindergarten and came home one day and said, “hey mom. it’s sad at my class. I’m the smartest person in my class. Sad for the ones that aren’t as smart as me huh?” My chin hit the floor before I explained how that wasn’t so nice!

The latest from my 5 year-old:
I sometimes (OK, many times) say “use your eyeballs” when he’s looking for something and can’t find it. (He’s notorious for standing right ON. TOP. of the “elusive” item and still can’t seem to find it.) Last week, I asked him something, and couldn’t hear his answer. When I told him I couldn’t hear him and to please repeat, he said, without missing a beat, “use your earballs.” Sigh. That Zachary.
Ooooh, Colson isn’t talking in complete sentences yet…but he does say no a lot!!!! I do keep a little journal but it would be nice to keep those quotes in one place!!
Okay where to begin on the quotes. I have 2 kids so I’ll try to keep it short.
Son at 5 – “when I get bigger I’ll turn the lock around and lock you OUT of my room and eat all the bowls of cereal I wantt and when I’m done I’ll unlock the door and come out.” This was said b/c he had had 2 adult size bowls of cereal already and we wouldn’t give him a 3rd. He’s really really tall so needs a lot of food.
Another one at 5. He gets $.25 for good behavior at school. He came home one day without good behavior and lost his quarter to which I said “Man you aren’t going to get your quarter today. You could have had a quarter.”
His reply. “That’s okay I didn’t need it. When my tooth comes out I get $1.00 and tomorrow I get my report card where I get 25 cents per A so I didn’t need this quarter.”
My daughter age 3. “Mom you have 3 choices….” Then she proceeds to give me the same 3 choices for what she wants to do and says “Now what do you choose?” Of course we point out their behavior is a choice which bring consequences. Too funny.
Another one for daughter. She touched me once and said “Your hot mommy”. Me: Yes dear, her: “Stop drop and roll mommy. If your whole body is hot then you have to stop drop and roll.”
I pretty much write everything down! or I facebook the quote, so I love that book idea, ADORABLE…

I LOVE LOVE the book! My Mother was very attentive to writing things in our “Baby Book”! (am I dating myself?!) Anyway, not only do I have the fun things to read about me but it is in HER hand writing. Now that she has gone on to be with The Lord it is such a comforting balm to turn to those pages and see her own handwriting! A very special gift!

What an AWESOME idea! I sure wish I had known about that book when my kids were little and “quotable”. They have said some funny things that I think I will never forget, and unless you write them down, you will.

When my daughter was a little over two, I went up to her room at naptime to tell her to quiet down, and then through the monitor I heard her yelling, at the top of her voice, “I quiet mommy! I quiet mommy!”. lol. I love the idea of a book for keeping track of that kind of thing. I had a file of cute things my kids said on my computer, but the computer crashed and I lost that. Major bummer.
My 1st born is full of outrageous sayings, phrases, etc. One of my favorites is what he said to his daddy. He looked at him and so lovingly said, “Daddy, do you know how much I love you?”
“I love you so much, I don’t even want to kill you.”

Since Miles really can’t talk yet, the only adorable thing that he’s said is Mama. So I’ll just say… I want one.
Oh, I wish I had one of these when my middle one was little! One morning in Bible class, when he was 2 1/2, was asked who built the ark. We were going through a time where he and his older brother were wanting to say words that we told them were “bad words” at our house. So his answer to who built the ark? “Shut up stupid Noah.” The teacher asked him what he had said, thinking she had misunderstood him. He answered in his charming little way, “Noah!” He just had to get those “bad words” in there!

I have a little girl that was born a week after Elias. So as you know she too is not saying too much!! But I know all to well that there will be a day very soon that she will be rambling non stop, so I would LOVE to have a place where I could write all those hilarious things she say down!!
My daughter who is 18 months has just started to put a few words together that we can understand. I love it when she gets the serious look, furrow brow at all and says “Oh No” in her best deep voice. She says this when she drops something, knocks her blocks over, drops food or something just doesn’t go her way. I think this book is a great idea because I don’t want to forget these precious moments.
I was cooking toast in the oven, and my grandaughter was kind enough to remind me that she was “black toast intolerant”. Good stuff right there. haha.
Just tonight, we were eating Chick-fil-A at the mall. Lawton, who just turned four, took a bite of his fry and said, “MMMM. Tasty!” He then took a bite of his chicken and said, “MMM! Even more tasty!”

My grand daughter is 21 months old and we think everything she says is “cute”, She constantly comes out with one, two or three worders that make us laugh all day. She is very bright and is counting really well, she is starting to count on her own. But if you want her to count for you you get her started by saying, “say One”, she says two, three, fowa, fii, siis , seva, eight, only to eight so far. But she won’t say ONE. Every time we say, “say One” she starts counting from Two. She say Melmo, for Elmo, and ALL dogs are “bobo’s” because that is her dog’s name. Every day is filled with new words. And cuteness. I have a quote though it’s not from my kid but my favorite that I over heard a boy say at a store. The sales clerk asked the boy if he was going swimming since it was so nice outside. He said he use to know how to swim but now he can’t. She asked why and he said, “My swim shorts have a hole in them so I sink now.” I LOVED it and thought it was the funnest thing ever.
Amelia is just ready to turn 11 months and is only really making sounds but I cannot weight until she’s quotable like everyone else’s kid because these comments are HILARIOUS!!! Would love a copy of this book when the time comes for her to actually say something my husband and I can understand!!!!

My friend has twins and I was lucky enough to care for them this weekend. The younger twin (by mere minutes) says Bye, Bye sissy! but it sounds like she has a lisp. So cute. And the older twin loves to say poop when she has pooped! THey are only 16 months old. I would love to gift my friend with this book because they are truly a blessing.

Caroline can’t really talk that much yet, but she did have her first quotable moment. One night my brother and sister were in town and we were all sitting around talking. Somehow it got brought up about the time my brother went on a mission trip to Austria with a girl he was dating. My mom honestly forgot that he had done that and said, “YOU went to Austria with a GIRL?”. At that moment, Caroline gave her BEST “UH – oooooooh”. It was too funny!
My favorite: My 2YO will pretend he’s putting contacts in and say “I putting my blue eyes in”. He is precious.

My niece was around 27 months old and starting to talk a fair bit so we went to the panto one xmas! Exciting huh?! Well afterwards we went backstage to meet snow white and her seven dwarfs (and believe me we said dwarfs A LOT) so when we came to meet them she decides to shout out!

My sister (her mum) was just so embarrassed and the dwarfs were really kind lol. I just thought it was the funniest thing!

today i took 3 year-old brewer to have lunch with jett at his school. as we excited the school holding hands brewer looked up at me and said “that was awesome” with a huge smile on his face. it was that “funny” but it warmed my heart knowing how he enjoyed time spent with his older brother.
My niece Haley is 2 yrs old and really chuncky. So the other day her Daddy put jean shorts on her that button. Well Haley pointed at the button and said “daddy it hurts” Joe (my BIL) could not help but laugh and Haley’s reponse was “daddy that’s not nice.”

I love the whole idea of that book! I am always trying to find a way to add some of the clever or funny things my granddaughter says to her scrapbooks, but this is an excellent idea. This is what happened recently at the zoo, my little one ran in front of a statue of 2 lions and asked that I take her picture. When her Mom commented on how smart she was she replied “Not particularly. I just wanted my picture taken.”

Her brother, Elijah age 2, was doing something that caught my attention and my discipline. Unfortunately for Elijah his speech sounds are not developing quickly, so in his best 2-year old jargon/baby talk he let me know that he was totally unhappy with me taking his toy/weapon away from him. Elly did not miss a beat…”Mommy, I know that you can’t understand what Elijah just said, but I did. And he just told you that ‘you’re not in charge’!” What a sweetheart trying to help me out like that, huh?!?!

LOVE the book idea! This was a recent melt your heart moment from our 3 year old. I had said, “Isaiah, I’m so glad you’re my boy” and he responded affectionately with “Mommy, I’m so glad you’re my girl.” It just keeps getting better and better. =) Enjoy because it goes by way too fast.
I love the idea of this book and have been thinking of creating one for my daughter. I guess when she was about 3 or 4(see I need to write it down), my husband and I were traveling in the car and she took her shoes off. When we were getting ready to arrive at the grandparents, I told her I did not want her in her bare feet and to put her shoes on. She kept crying and every time I would say it, she would get more upset and I couldn’t figure out why. I finally asked her why, and she said adamantly through tears, “I do not have bear’s feet, I have princess feet!.”

My sons have the privalage of staying with my stepmom and dad on Wednesdays while I am at work. My dad told me that she has been writing down phrases my three year old says. My son William (22 months) says lots of random things. My favorite is when he shouts, “I want sprinklewaters!” when he wants to go outside to see the sprinklers.

Well I have lots but recently my daughter who is home from school due to swine flu said sthey had to stay home and could not go to the zoo becuase the swan’s had the flu. Not exactly the same byut still cute.
My current favorite quote is from my older daughter telling her little sister, “You don’t grow LITTLE.”

Here’s a favorite from my son who is now 8 years old. He was about 4 when this happened.
We were trying to help him remember his left and right so I showed him the trick with your hands where the left hand makes an ‘L’, so that it could help him remember it was his left hand and left side. Mind you, he had a slight speech impediment at that time…
Burke: But Mom, wouldn’t it be a ‘W’ for “Weft”?
Trying not to die laughing, I explained it was an ‘L’, pronounced “left”. We still roll about it with friends to this day–just not in front of him. He’s still a little sensitive about it…
When our son was eighteen months old, he started crawling up our stairs. I saw him one day and went through the whole “Are you supposed to be on the stairs without Mommy or Daddy?” routine. He answered, “no,” and went on to point to the dog and said, “but puppy is on the stairs!”
Yikes. Logic. At eighteen months. He’s now two and continuing to talk up a storm. (I highly recommend teaching some basic sign language between 4 and 8 months. Our little guy’s language skills seemed to be jump-started by this choice.)

My oldest (3) is into asking for EVERYTHING that is advertised on tv. She also will mimic the actors in the commercials. Right now, the funniest thing she has asked for is back pain. Yes= back pain. I walked into the playroom the other day & she was hunched over holding her back & she said "Mama, I want back pain."
I said no you don't, stop that. She says: "but Mama, I really need it." lol

My just turned one-year-old is not a big fan of the sippy cup but we keep giving it a try. The other day my nine-year-old held the baby firmly on his lap and told him that he was “going to take the sippy cup and he was going to like it” as he was shoving it in his mouth. I wonder where he got that line from:)

My son says the funniest things on a daily basis. These two are my absolute favorite. He is two and a half.
I am three weeks away from giving birth to my second child. I was getting dressed after my shower and I hear Mason say, “Mommy scratch herself.” I look down at my stomach where he is pointing and I realize he is talking about my stretch marks. LOL!
A few months ago my son was being exceptionally cranky, unlike himself. He kept crying for no reason and proceeded to throw a fit. We put him in time out. I was trying to remain calm and asked him,
“Why are you being such a cranky pants?”
He screams at me,
“No am cranky pants!”
“Yes you are a cranky pants.” I insist.
Mason then throws his hands up as if in frustration that we are so dumb and very sternly says to me,
“No cranky pants. I not wearing any pants!”
He had a point, he wasn’t wearing pants, just a t-shirt and his pull-ups. My husband and I burst out in laughter after that, unable to control ourselves, and the time out ended.
Hope your getting a kick out of these comments. Kids really say the cutest, most hysterical things sometimes. Makes all the “bad moments” totally worth it.
Today my 6 year old daughter was talking about the bathing suit she had lasy year. It had monkeys on it, even on the butt. My four year old son said, “Oh yeah, that bathing suit was so cute. The monkeys were so cute, but your butt…it was not cute.”
This followed after the day he prayed at lunch, “Thank you, Jesus for this day, this food, my friends and (as he opened his eyes and glanced at his sister and smiled) my sister, Kari”. He can be sweet, too.

I have four kiddos, and they’ve said many quotable and unquotable things through the years! The most recent quotable saying that struck my fancy happened was this week and was spoken by my six year old son who said, “Mama, what did daddy ever do without you?” (asked while I was folding laundry and watching a casserole to be sure it didn’t burn). My oldest…when she was 4yo, asked me, out of the blue one day,

Well, I have six sons. Not a girl in the bunch. And there is NO shortage of laughter around here. I remember when I just had two boys and they were about 2 and 4 years old. We were at the zoo with a friend who had NO kids. My youngest was going through a phase where he put the word “head” on the end of EVERYTHING. (poopoo head, birdhead, candyhead….you get the idea). Well, there we are at the zoo eating in this outdoor picnic area FULL of people. There are geese roaming about freely and pecking for food all over the place and scaring my boys. SO…my two year old, who is standing on the bench trying to stay away from the geese yells in FULL voice…”Get away you PECKER HEADS!” I was mortified. I mean, it sounded as if we used that word freely around our house as forcefully as he used it but I promise you…it was a coincidental match borne out of his love for all things ending in the word HEAD! My 3 year old daughter Katelyn said something quotable to me just today. She has a new baby sister who is now 10 weeks old just to give you background. Katelyn has been asking me for a hamster lately and I’ve been putting her off. Today I finally asked her why she wanted a hamster. Her response, “because hamsters are better than baby sisters!” She definitely keeps us laughing.
My son was learning about the brain in science class and thought he would share with us. He said, mom did you know that a “GRANDMA” seizure is the worst thing that can happen to your brain? I cracked up it was the funniest thing I had ever heard at the time. He didn’t believe us when we told him it was Grand-Mal! Thanks for letting me share the memory :))
