It’s My Golden Birthday!

My sixth birthday – 1988

My whole life I have thought, gosh, I will be so old when I celebrate my golden birthday (the birthday when someone turns the age of their birth day.)

It is finally here.

I am 27.

And I don’t feel old at all.

I thought I would share a few photos from the days that I thought 27 was so old.

This is one of my favorite baby pictures of me. I was right about Elias’s age.

I think I was three here – I loved Rainbow Bright. Any other 80s girls want to say amen?
The fourth of July has always been my favorite.
Yes, we wore sponge rollers every Christmas eve so our hair would be cute and curly for the holidays. And what girl doesn’t love heels- even at age 6?
I love childhood pictures. My mom has always loved pictures and I am so thankful for that. I have way more photos from my childhood than most of my friends.

Tonight we are just going to have a simple get together with a few friends, watch the finale of the Bachlorettte and eat some cake. Matthew and I celebrated Saturday by getting a date night to go see Carrie Underwood at the Grand Ole Opry (thanks Angie and Todd for watching the peanut!).

Your golden birthday is supposed to be the start of your best year – and I think it may be. 🙂

  4. Ohhhhhh, just wikipedia-ed what a golden birthday is. I should've gotten that! It's your golden birthday because you're 27 on the 27th. I gotcha! 🙂

    In that case, my golden birthday wasn't right. Being 15 sucked! (Then again, doesn't it suck for every girl? haha.)

  27. I used to love Rainbow Brite growing up! I watched the movie over and over and when I turned 20 I bought it on VHS (now of course I need to find it on DVD). I hope to be able to share it with my daughter as she gets older. I wish they had made more episodes!

    I never heard it called the 'golden' birthday before. I passed mine (July 25) 21 years ago. Wow. Now my youngest is the only one waiting for his. It will be his 20th birthday and I just don't want to think about that.
