A New Phone
While at the beach this weekend, I was squatting down at the edge of the water taking pictures of Elias. All of a sudden a wave hit me in the butt and I was soaked. What I forgot was that my cell phone was in my back pocket… Oops.
Needless to say my phone was shot. No amount of taking it apart and drying it could restore it.
My contract had just expired with Verizon, so I decided to make the switch to AT&T so I could get an iphone. I had fun yesterday beginning to learn all the features and downloading apps.
Their commercials tout 75,000 apps are available, so I am looking for some recommendations! If you have an iphone, what are your favorite apps? Let me know. If you have any good kid app recommendations, let me know those too. Elias loves playing with Matthew’s phone, so I’m sure he is going to be in heaven having TWO iphones in the house.
I compile a list of the ones I download in a few days.
Thanks!
Be sure to stop back tomorrow for a Wordless Wednesday post dedicated to beach pictures.

I got my iPhone in August and I absolutely love it! I don't know what I did before I had one. My favorite apps are: Flixster, Pandora, Bump, The Bible, Facebook, and then I have a bunch of games too. I also love that I can blog from the iPhone. I haven't paid for any apps, so these are all the free ones. I know you will enjoy your new phone.
I would highly recommend the new Photoshop app, it's free and it has some really fun things you can do with the pictures you take on your phone. I also use Echofon for Twitter & the Facebook app. My 2 year old likes a game that involves popping bubbles, like bubble wrap.
Grocery Zen is awesome (it's the only app I paid for but it is worth it), The Weather Channel, Facebook, Echofon, Fandango, Shazam (love this!), ScoreCenter, Starbucks, Wells Fargo, Redbox Lite and Kindle.
You will love it!!
I'm looking forward to reading the suggestion, but my just turned two year old love iZoo (the $.99 version). It's not what I expected, but needless to say he loves it (especially the chipmunk).
Hi Jessica, my favorite apps are, Tweetie (for Twitter), Facebook, WeatherBug, AppBox Pro, ESPN Score Center (for my husband) and Amazon.
I have a few apps on my phone for my niece… Baby Flash Cards and BubbleWrap are a few of her favorites.
I am not cool, I still have a verizon phone. Maybe someday my phone can bite the dust like yours did!
However, my husband owns one 🙂 My favorite app is Scramble. It is a game, kind of like boggle. You have two minutes to come up with as many words possible with a given word board.
Enjoy!
My favs: Shazam (if you hear a song and can't remember the name, it will tell you!), Tweetie, Facebook, Cellfire (links coupons to your grocery card), Light (flashlight), Flixster (check movie times & buy tickets through the app), AccuWeather, Mint.com, & PaperToss
My kids favs (They are a little older than Elias) … PS – these are all free: GhostPop, Match, BubbleWrap, BounceOn, Uno, SheepLaunch, RhinoBall, & Radio Disney.
How is the actual phone service on an iphone? I have debated getting one (mainly for the medical apps), but I just can't make up my mind!!
Grocery Gadget is one we adults love, my son however loves Bubblewrap, Up (based on the movie, you pop balloons) and Youtube is great for clips of his favorite shows or videos of trucks and trains.
A great thing I have is short videos that my son can watch (Diego, Sesame Street, Dora. His favorite is Diego. The ones I get are free from ITunes. It's great for when you are grocery shopping with them or waiting for an appt.

I love PaperToss and Most Addicting Game Ever (or something like that). Both are great to play while you're waiting in line or are just generally bored.
Tweetie (Twitter client); Reformation Study Bible; CameraBag; Scrabble; Bookworm; Bejeweled 2; The Weather Channel.
My contract with Sprint expires in November, so an iPhone is on my Christmas list! I'm so excited. I can't wait to see the app list you come up with.
Be careful about Elias playing with your phone. My father-in-law had an unfortunate incident where a friend's 6 yo called his boss in the middle of the night!
My husband and I are addicted to Sextuple Word (there's a Lite version available for free). Other apps that I use frequently are: Facebook, Flashlight, Flycast (streams music), Google Earth, Midomi (similar to Shazam), Mint.com, Pandora, Urbanspoon (great if you're on vacation and looking for somewhere to eat). All those apps are free.
For fun (kid-friendly) games, you can try any of the "Papi" games. I have like 6 of them (my favorite is PapiJump).
Have fun with it, my iPhone has changed my entire mobile experience. I never even had e-mail on previous phones. Now, we're always out and about, Googling things at will! 🙂
Kat In Dylan's Memory
Pandora, Facebook, Urbanspoon, Whole Food Market Recipes, iPeriod (sounds funny, but seriously it's amazing…no more counting days based on your previous cycles/cycle lengths it predicts your period on a calendar and your fertile days months in advance and it's pretty accurate if you are fairly regular), iFood assistant by Kraft. As far as games go, I like Bookworm and Bejeweled.
my fiance and i love LOOPT, TWITTER *he uses twittelator pro and i use echofon), FACEBOOK, FANDANGO (no more callin the movie theatre! times are right there), PANDORA, AIM, GROCERY GADGET, AND YOU WILL LOVE LOVE LOVE "polarize", it turns all your pics into polaroids!!!!
LOVE my iPHone. Congrats!
For kids I love Balloonimals, iWriteWords, Coloring Book Elementary and iZoo and old school TicTacTouch.
For me I like AllRecipes, Cheap Gas, Fandango, and of course Pandora, Facebook and Twitterific.
Here's a post about mine from Feb. with more suggestions:

We have had an iPhone for about a month now, and I seriously don't know what we did without it! It really has been worth it. We've only tried free apps, but some of the ones we love so far are SnapTell, Cardstar, Say Where!, weeGiggle and DoodleBuddy (the last two for the kids, of course!). Looking forward to reading what everyone else recommends.

I just wanted to thank you for sharing the Christy Knockles (sp??) videos a few posts back. Her words really spoke to my heart. In fact I am trying to be very purposeful in finding the glorious in the mundane every day. I even added the phrase as a tagline on my blog. My husband and I are going through some very radical and difficult changes in our ministry future. When Christy shared Psalm 37:4 and what she understood it to mean, God allowed the Holy Spirit to speak to my heart in a very real way. I had never looked at that verse that way. I cannot go into details at this moment, and I hope this doesn't sound weird. I just wanted to thank you. I really enjoy reading your blog. I am a new follower. {grin}
I'm an addict of ebay…so I definitely recommend the ebay app 🙂
Get the game Sally Spa…its on my kids itouch ipods and it is addictive. I think the full version is 1.99..it is so much fun. Imagine taking customers around the spa and doing treatments on them but more customers keep coming in and you have to hurry or they get mad. You can give them tea or a magazine to calm them down. it is really fun.
This is probably a silly app to you lol, but I love Weather Bug. I like it mainly because I can pull up the radar at anytime. I find it VERY useful:) Good luck~ You will love it!!
I can't wait for this scrapbooking app to come out! http://www.coolibah.me/
The main ones I use are the social media sites (of course) and Whiteboard (great one for the kids), Bubble Wrap, The Bible (although I'm gonna purchase the NIV version), Cellfire, and Coupon Sherpa.
I love Coupon Sherpa too since you don't have to print coupons anymore – most stores are just taking the code from the iphone coupon and entering it that way!
I actually just posted about this for Works for me Wednesday. Check it out http://www.adventuresofastayathomemom.com/2009/10/what-do-you-do-when-you-are-stuck-in.html I listed a bunch of apps my little boys like!
Oh, I dream of one day owning an iPhone! I think they're so neat.
iPhones are the greatest!!!
My favorite apps are The Weather Channel (I travel a lot and it's so helpful!), Shazam, You Version Bible, Facebook, Echofon, and Chase's app for banking.
For games, I am totally addicted to Flight Control!!!
Oh girl! You are going to love it!!! First of all, you need Tweetie 2 for twitter.
Free Apps for Kids that Graham LOVES:
Toddler Teasers Shapes
First Words sampler
Animal Drop
We also have Old MacDonald by Duck Duck Moose that costs $.99.. he loves that one!
Also, Flickr has a new app that is free….
Now I'm off to read these comments because I want to know myself!
I have the ipod touch but will be getting iphone next week.
Here are my picks:
Tweetie, Facebook, iSwap Faces (to be silly with pics), iBlogger, Flixter, Google, Betty Crocker Cookbook, TapTap Revenge, Urbanspoon, Sudoku, Pandora
Not sure how old Elias is, but they have apps for nursing & diaper changes, but that's usually more useful for newborns when you're so sleepy you don't remember when you nursed last!
For kids: Bright & Beyond (free version), Peekaboo
have fun & remember, "there's an app for that"
trapster tells where any active speed traps are, as well as where cops often like to sit and shoot radar. voicce notes is cool, and big day does a countdown to some big event.
