A Prayer for My Mom
Update: I will write more soon, but wanted to thank everyone for the prayers. Mom is going to be having surgery on Nov. 20. The aneurysm is 14 mm, which is large and the artery that it stems from is also engorged meaning the coiling surgery will be a bit more involved… but the doctor’s complication rate is only 1.5%, so hopefully she will come through it with flying colors.
Giveaway Thursday will be Giveaway Friday this week because my mom needs your prayers.
If you follow me on twitter, you may know that on September 28, my mom was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm.
Today she goes to a specialist to learn more about the diagnosis and her options for surgery.
Can you say a little prayer for her today? The appointment is at 1:40 CST.
My family has an ugly history of aneurysms.
My great grandma Adeline died of a brain aneurysm on a Friday in the early 60s. She was going in for surgery that following Monday.
My nana has had two brain surgeries, both for aneurysms.
The doctor left a clamp open in her head during the first surgery in the late 70s. They were able to get it closed later, but the damage had been done. She was left with small seizures for the rest of her life. Her second surgery in the 90s caused her to lose her sense of taste, smell and balance.
You can see why we are worried.
We don’t like aneurysms.
But it seems like they are going to continue to be part of our story.
Please pray for wisdom from the doctor.
Please pray that the location is not hard to get to.
Please pray for hope, peace and healing.
Please pray for strength for my mom, dad, sister and others who are near her.
I plan to go to WI for the surgery. This is one of those times when it is especially hard to be far from home.
Thank you for your prayers.

Praying for you all in this difficult situation. It's not a surprise to God. He's got it.

I just prayed for your mom. My family has an ugly history with brain aneurysms also. My grandma had one that burst but she survived, unfortunately her cognition was not the same afterwards. My mom had one a week after my first baby was born and then she died last year from another one. I fear for myself (leaving my children too early) and for my children. They say there is no hereditary factor, but I disagree.
I'm praying right now and will continue to do so throughout the day! May the Lord bring peace & comfort to your family right now!

Also, will everyone who is posting here with a family history please get themselves checked with a CTA or MRA! We are doing a big study on that and the results are surprising.

And there is a hereditary factor to aneurysms. I survived a burst aneurysm 4 years ago next month. My kids were both told to get MRI's.
