"No. No." and the Worth Repeating Contest

Elias has really gotten chatty in the past month. His latest is “no. no.” It is hysterical – especially when he expressively uses his hands while saying it.  I laugh every time he says it, which I know I shouldn’t do because it just encourages it, but I can’t help myself.

This is the first thing I have recorded in my copy of My Quotable Kid: A Parents’ Journal of Unforgettable Quotes by Chronicle Books. I can’t imagine the things that will come out of his mouth in the coming years. I kind of have an obsession with Chronicle Books’ journals and books. I can spot a Chronicle Book out at a bookstore without hesitation – especially their journals. Be still my heart. Now, if I could just be better about writing in them. 

I was honored to recently be asked to be a guest judge for the newly launched Out of the Mouths of Worth Repeating Contest, which is sponsored by Chronicle and Method products (In exchange for my time, I will get a few Chronicle Books – how could I say no to that?!)

For the contest, parents are asked to submit things their kids have said. I love contests like this because it is just as fun to read through the entries as it is to enter.  I was reading through some of the entries this morning and cracked up at this one.

My husband and I brought home a sonogram photo to share with our 3-year old son of his soon-to-be-born sibling. We point out the body parts, finally pointing to the new one we just learned of that day. “And what’s this?” we ask. “A PENIS!” our son replies. “And what does that mean?!” we ask, expectantly. “HE CAN PEE!!!!!” he replies joyfully.
