Using Your Cell Phone While Driving
I saw this video yesterday at work.
I can’t stop thinking about what he said:
- Talking on a cell phone is just as distracting as driving drunk.
- Texting is like driving with twice the legal limit of alcohol in your blood.
- Too many drivers are paying more attention to their cell phones than the road.
- 15% of drivers in school zones can be seen talking on cell phones – 1 in 6 – while around kids.
He aslo said that he wished every driver in his state to could spend half a day with him at his hospital.
Wow.
I talk on my cell phone all the time while driving.
I don’t text though.
But it doesn’t matter. Apparently, it is still like I am driving drunk.
After watching this video, I will definitely not be using my cell phone as much while driving – especially when Elias is in the car. Safety must be my first concern. I wish I could say I won’t ever use it, but that isn’t true. I know I will.
What are your thoughts about cell phone usage and driving? Do you have a story to share?
