A Letter to Elias at 22 Months
Dear Elias,
I can’t believe that in less than two months, you will be TWO! It hardly seems possible.
You are such a blessing, sweet boy. Every day when I drop you off at school, you wave and say, “Bye, Mama!”, so happy to be playing with your friends and learning. However, when I pick you up from school, you drop what you are doing and run as fast as you can toward me. You’ve missed me. 🙂 It is the best part of my day.
You are saying so many words! You will try to repeat anything we say and it is so much fun hearing you express yourself. Some of the words you say include:
- Mama/Mommy
- Daddy
- bath
- milk
- hooray!
- oh no
- all done
- dog
- kitty cat
- bear
- moon
- cow
- bunny
- fish
- star
- cheese
- Jesus
- bubble
- all the Sesame Street characters (Elmo, Abby, Zoe, Cookie, Big Bird, Count, Burt and Ernie)
- guitar (“ge-tar”)
- song
- bus
- car
- outside
- sock
- orange
- banana
- cereal
- broccoli (your current favorite vegetable)
- apple
- cracker
- egg
- red
- blue (“boo”)
- green (“geen”)
- black (“back”)
- poop (which you like to exclaim whenever you have a dirty diaper)
You are also great with names. You know many family members’ and friends’ names including:
- Nana
- Papa/PawPaw
- MawMaw
- Danny
- Auntie (“TeeTee”)
- Gigi (Great Grandma Ruth)
- Lis (“Yiz”)
- Ally (for Alyson)
- Angie
You are very musically inclined. You like to sing – usually into a closepin or wood peg from your hammer toy. You often will stop what you are doing to dance to a song you hear on the computer, radio or television. You also love playing with your musical instruments – a guitar, maracas, bells and drums. You love to clap and often are on beat, which amazes us.
You are also beginning to identify letters and colors – though you usually get them wrong. 🙂 You are a voracious reader and lover of books. You would prefer to read books over most any other activity. You are incredibly bright and show us that in new and different ways every day.
Of course, you have your moments when you aren’t an angel. 🙂 We work hard to be consistent with you, and you know what we mean when we say “go to the bench.” You do not like when you have to stop playing to have your diaper changed or to get dressed, so we try to make it fun and get it done quickly. You go to bed between 7:15-7:45 most nights, and you always go right down. You sleep with many stuffed animals and always have to have your turtle night light on and your fish playing music.
You are a wonderful, loving, fun, sweet boy, Elias. Your daddy and I marvel over you every day. We love you.
Love,
Mommy
