New Favorite Summer Crock Pot Recipe
Since we are having Elias’s birthday party today, and he has a friend’s party tonight, I will definitely be crock potting dinner. 🙂 I thought I would share our new favorite crock pot recipe – Pork and Peaches.
I know, it sounds unusual, but it is awesome! You can totally make it with pork chops, a pork roast or chicken.
Here is the recipe:
- 5 to 6 pork chops
- 1/4 c. brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. ground cloves (not necessary)
- 1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce (I used trader joes sauce)
- 1 large can (approx. 29 ounces) can cling peaches (halves), drained, syrup reserved
- 1/4 c. cider vinegar
- Salt and pepper
Preparation:
Brown chops lightly on both sides in a heavy skillet. Pour off excess fat. In a bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon, cloves, tomato sauce, 1/4 cup syrup from peaches and vinegar; set aside. Season the browned pork chops and arrange in slow cooker. Arrange drained peach halves over the pork chops. Pour tomato mixture over all. Cover and cook pork chops on low for 7 to 9 hours.
Enjoy!
Yum, Jessica! This sounds awesome. I love doing pork in the crockpot because I always dry it out in the oven! Thanks for posting this. If only I can convince my Handsome that pork can have something on it OTHER than barbecue sauce….. 😉
Stopping over today from inCourage, where I linked up my favorite cinnamon swirl bread and pumpkin roll recipes. On a side note, I am so thankful for you and Angie doing all of those videos for the book club discussion on Ann’s book. I have been chronicling my journey through the book on my blog and posting it along with your videos, and I have just been so blessed by you girls! Thanks for your sacrifice! 🙂
yum. that sounds delish. i need to get more creative with my crock pot. i cooked a whole chicken in it this week, though, and it turned out beautifully.
