Photo Tip: Try Interesting Angles
I have been playing A LOT with my new camera. I guess you could say we are in the honeymoon phase. 🙂
You learned last week that I usually shoot in P, which tells you I am FAR from an expert. But that doesn’t mean I don’t have a few tips. 🙂
Lately I have been doing more of shooting at different angles.
- Shooting down low
- Shooting from the tummy or hip (holding the camera against my body and and not even looking through the lens)
- Shooting over my head
I love the different perspectives that can be captured.
It is important to note that you will get a TON of shots that totally stink! More than 70% of my shots are of the grass, people’s legs or other weird shots that I would never want to keep. But, a few winners emerge, so I am going to keep practicing!
Great example. Two weeks ago, Elias was so tired and just wanted to watch his new Elmo DVD at my Aunt’s. He was sitting at the table looking so cute and I snapped this shot.
But look how much cooler the shot is when I set the camera on the table and shot – without looking through the lens.
You can see his reflection in the table and so much more detail.
Try out a different angle this week!
