Making My First Picaboo Book
Throughout the month I have been talking about Picaboo offering a FREE 20-page, hardcover photo book ($39.99 value) for all new customers. Just use the code FREEBK through August 31, 2010.
Unlike many of you who have ordered the book and written to tell me how fabulous your book is, it’s the best photo book you have ever made, etc. etc. etc. – I just started making my book yesterday.
Way to be on the ball Jessica.
But I thought just maybe there are a few others out there who haven’t started.
This post is for you.
I wanted to encourage you to make your free book. It is going to be so worth it because, though I haven’t ordered a Picaboo book before, if the books are anything like the software, the book is going to be FABULOUS. (Plus photobooks are always cool.)
I think I was a little overwhelmed about starting to make a Picaboo book because you have to download special software and it just didn’t feel as familiar as making a book on Shutterfly or Snapfish.
Is that maybe you?
But seriously, the software is so intuitive and easy to use.
After just a couple hours of working on my book, I can honestly say I LOVE the Picaboo software.
LOVE IT.
And you will too.
Here’s a glimpse of the Elias birthday book I am making. (I made one last year too. I think I might make a birthday photo book every year.)
Unlike online photo book building, everything is 100% changeable in Picaboo.
Don’t like the position of a text box? Move it.
Don’t like a picture right there? Move it.
Don’t like that background paper? Pick a different one (there are thousands!)
The only downside is that Picaboo resides on your hard drive. So you can’t start the book on one computer and then work on it on a different one. That’s a little annoying, but not the end of the world.*
Overall, I can honestly say that I’m blown away. I think this might be the best photo book software out there. And I am so excited to make my year in review albums with Picaboo because they are going to be FABULOUS.
Possible other book ideas: a special trip, documenting a pregnancy, baby’s firsts, an event, a season of life, or even a Christmas gift. 🙂
So go sign up for Picaboo today! It is one free book per account. (Shipping is $8.99) You can totally get your book done before this deal is up at the end of the month.
If you have used Picaboo, I would love you to leave a comment about what you liked and/or didn’t like, as well as how your book turned out.
*Update re: not being able to access your book on other machines: I found this comment on the Picaboo Facebook page: In X, it automatically saves the file in a format you can easily port. In 2.5, you have to specifically tell it to “archive” a book (under the file menu). Then if you don’t have a home network to share those files over, you can use a USB key or the like to move them between machines.
