  1. Jess my mom made us chains for all occasions and I loved it. So one year when my son was small and could hardly wait for Christmas to arrive, I made him a chain with candys wrapped and twisted in celophane and tied in ribbons. It was so pretty!
I explained to him that when all the candies were gone….it would be Christmas. We proudly hung the chain on the wall and I got busy doing some chores. About 10 minutes later my son came to fine me and announced “Yea….it’s time for Christmas!” I looked down to see a messy little face smeared with chocolate and realized I should have said “we will eat one candy each night…then it will be Christmas….instead of when the candies are gone!”
I still chuckle about this memory and that little guy is now 18 years old:)

  2. I’m totally stealing this idea to do while my husband is in China. That way, we can count down the days until my boys go to Grandma’s house!! Yup, they don’t really care when Daddy gets back, but Isaiah is already frantic with excitement over going to Grandma’s!

  3. What a great idea! It’s so hard for kids to get the concept of time, especially when they are waiting for something that is days away. My husband will be traveling a lot in the future for his job, maybe this is something I can do to help the kids know when Daddy will be coming back each time.
