Welcome to the NEW Mom Creative
Thank you to each of you who have left kind messages via Facebook, Twitter and here on the blog about the new look. I am really excited about it.
Here’s a bit of a run-down/tour:
- No more Blogger– this blog is now on WordPress. I am using the Standard theme. My designers are Jessica and Neil from Kohler Created. I can’t recommend them enough. (Clearly, I am not the only one because I think their wait list is a few months long. While the old URL will redirect to www.themomcreative.com, I would be grateful if you would update the links on your blog to reflect this new domain. I think it will help those Google bots.
- Comments – To make a long story short, if you are on Blogger and use Disqus it is challenging to get your comments to migrate over to WordPress. (Challenging is the nicest word I can use). So, all the comments from Dec. 2009 – this past week did not transfer. After some crying, I let it go. Comment a lot for the next few weeks and we won’t even notice. 🙂
- New tagline – a life well-crafted. I LOVE it. It came to me at 2:30 am during one of my middle of the night bathroom breaks. I wrote it on a piece of toilet paper because that is all I had in the bathroom. Ha! 🙂 I now have a little notebook in there.
- Navigation and categories – I heard many of you loud and clear when you indicated that you wanted the site to have categories to easily find topics. I am REALLY excited about this change. Part of the back-end work for me is to tag close to 2,000 posts for the right category… needless to say this is not going to happen over-night. Please be patient.
- The birds – Speaking of categories, each of the birds represents a category, so you can easily tell the category that the post falls into (however, if the post falls into more than one category (ie: memory keeping/photo deals + frugal living/deals), only one bird will show up). Yellow = Faith; Red = Crafting; Blue = Family; Brown = Miscellany; Green = Frugal living
- Search bar– While Blogger provided a search bar, many folks found it hard to use. The new search bar (located on the right-hand side, beneath my photo) should make things easier.
- Subscribe – Now you can easily receive The Mom Creative in your inbox. Just add your email address to the yellow bar beneath the logo. I love receiving my favorite blogs in my inbox.
I think that’s everything!
Let me know if you have any questions/feedback. This has been a labor of love and I am so excited this is launched.
jessica it looks fabulous!!!! love love love. i’m so excited for you:)
It looks lovely!! I love the yellow scallop design and well…everything on here! 🙂 Congrats!
The site looks really cute! Great job & looking forward to getting you in my inbox!
Your new design is very fresh and pretty . . . pleasing to the eye. You may have already thought of this, but you could get a blog book printed that would save all of your past comments. We wouldn’t be able to see them electronically, but at least you’d have them for your own history. Thanks for blogging! 🙂
Hooray for categories! The blog looks great! 🙂
Beautiful! I love the tabs and the look.
Wow! Beautiful set-up! I am going to me moving to WP and using the standard theme also. You have definitely inspired me to do it soon!! Thanks!
I love the new design!! I especially like getting updates in my inbox – I would recommend every blogger give us this option.
Oh I love your new blog!!! It’s lovely just like you! ~nancy~
hi, sweets. i’m sure everyone else is smarter than me, but you may want to remind them to change their blog readers. i had to reload your blog address in Netvibes after I realized i hadn’t seen anything new from you in a few days. 🙂
The new site looks great, Jessica. Don’t you just love those middle-of-the-night epiphanies? The new tag-line is perfect. 🙂
The only problem that I’m having is the Project Life button that shows up for me when I use the code is not the same one that shows up on your page. The one that shows up for me doesn’t have the pretty soft blue-green bar across it. It is just the words “Project Life Tuesday” in red and black letters. The URL in the code is still the blogspot one. Where can I find the right code so that the right button will show up on my blog?
Keep up the great work!
Hi,
I just wanted to let you know that my husband figured out the button grab code for me. It was pointing to the wrong image. Now, the right one is showing on my side bar. Thanks!
Your sis in Christ,
Suz
My first visit here. LOVE it. When I say the title I thought. That is so me. Why didn’t I think of that title? This could be my home and I wouldn’t even know the difference. Love it, the work you are doing, and what you are sharing. The blog looks great. I use WordPress and I’m thinking I’m still behind you several steps! Awesome. This is NOT the free wordpress! Your readers deserve it, though, and I wish you all the sciatic relief you deserve and then some! (Been there!)
Can’t tell you how much I love the new look!
Thank you!
