  1. Cute video! I had a difficult time nursing my daughter and gave up too soon. I then started pumping exclusively but couldn’t keep my supply up and she ended up on formula by three months old. I still feel guilty about it and know I will try much harder with our next baby. Breastfeeding is such a sweet, special time. (Okay, maybe not as sweet at 3am, but you know what I mean.) My biggest hang-up in the short time I nursed my daughter was breastfeeding in public. I used a cover-up, but always felt like people’s looks of disgust were burning a hole through me. I’m going to have to get some thicker skin about that before the next baby.

    1. In the year I nursed Elias, I don’t think I nursed him in public as much as I already have with Adeline. This time around I just don’t care. 🙂 Breasts are made for feeding babies. People need to get over it. I think having a really pretty cover-up helps. Mine has ruffles on it and I LOVE it.

  2. I am weaning my 11.5 month old. I am glad we are at the end of a year, but so thankful I have had the opportunity to. It has been quite challenging at times and many days I just wanted to give up. Looking back on it I am glad to say that I stuck it out and I hope to do the same with any future babies my husband and I have. Love this post and love that you are such a wonderful mommy to your sweet babies! Blessings to you!

  3. I couldn’t nurse either one of my girls and I was pretty devastated about it. My oldest wouldn’t latch & I had some blood pressure problems, so she ended up on formula. My youngest was a “lazy nurser” no matter what she would fall asleep, and she would always want to eat again about an hour later…I was only getting half an ounce, and she had a very bad dairy allergy, so she had to end up going on soy formula. While I know it’s best, I never look down on or talk bad about moms who don’t or can’t. BTW I see NOTHING wrong with BF in public, but think it’s better when you cover up, especially with other kids around.

  4. love the video! And it’s so true. My little angel Piper is five months now and I’m going back to work in three weeks- so I reluctantly bought formula today to begin a transition. I did a keeping in touch day earlier this month and it would just not be feasible to express three times during the working day. I love holding her close and seeing her wee eyes light up when she sneaks a peek up at me, or when she raises her hand so her fingers touch my lips. I’m not fussy where I bf but did make a cute cover so I’m not blatantly whipping them out. Lol. Thanks for sharing, hugs to E & little A.

  5. I ended up exclusively pumping for my Little One. My milk didn’t come in as quickly as he needed it and the doctor suggested I pump to see what I was worth. Haha. I loved knowing how much he was getting at each feeding, we just stuck with that! I pumped for 6 months! And my supply lasted until he was 9 months. He’s on formula now but I am very pleased with the way things turned out. Pumping is a lot of work but totally worth it for your Little One!

  6. Loved the video! I am still nursing my 20 month old daughter. We now only nurse twice a day, so it is usually at home. Before she turned a year, I used to feed her in public and I didn’t care what others thought about it. I always used a cover, but it gets harder to be discreet the older they get. I plan on nursing until my daughter is 2 years old and I get a lot of people frowning down on me telling me she is just too old to continue breastfeeding. But my daughter and I really enjoy the bonding time, and it is just so good for her. Congratulations on your sweet bundle of joy!

  7. Great video, love the last line! I had awful problems nursing my first. I went through about three months of constantly getting plugged ducts, sometimes lasting more than 24 hours! It was really painful and stressful, but I pushed through and nursed her for 9 months. I’m so glad I did. The experience definitely made me stronger!

  8. I enjoyed nursing my son as well. However, it’s amazing for how little tolerance is still out there regarding breast feeding in public. I remember one time I was in a restaurant and I had my son laying on my chest and had a blanket over him because he was sleeping and the air vent was blowing directly on him–I wasn’t even feeding him at the time. An older man walked past my table and quickly back-tracked and looked down at my lumpy chest and said “couldn’t you go to the bathroom and “do that?” I said, do what? He then replied can’t you go feed your baby in the bathroom? I thought for a moment to ponder how rude he was and just lost myself. I said “sure I COULD do that, and I will do that, but only if you grab your plate off the table and eat your meal sitting on the toilet in the stall next to the one my child will be eating in.”

I know that was not the christian response, but it really is an upsetting topic.

    Breastfeeding does not suck!!

  9. I’m currently nursing my 8 month old. I nursed my other daughter until she was 13 months. I too am a lot more comfortable nursing in public this time around. I don’t think I’ve ever given the baby a bottle myself. I’ve nursed everywhere: church, baseball games, the county fair, etc. And I agree that pumping is hard and a pain, but truthfully I’m a little scared of formula (and at this point I have enough frozen milk that I don’t think I need to worry about it).
