Every Day Fun
With Sara being so sick, it has been hard to do much. I feel like I am just going through the motions.
But, my kids don’t understand.
And Sara would want me to keep LIVING LIFE and being joyful. Moreover, her favorite posts have always been Elias and Adeline posts.
So, I thought I would share a little bit of our every day with the kids these days.
Adeline is doing really well at school. She eats about every 2.5-3 hours and always drinks her full bottle. Most days I nurse her on my lunch break, which is such a blessing. Her caregivers say she is always extra content after I leave.
At almost three months, Adeline has really been enjoying her Bright Starts play mat. She loves to look at the hanging toys and just starting swinging at them this past week. She is often entertained for more than 30 minutes.
Of course, as is often the case with older siblings (so I hear), Elias is way more interested in her toys than his. He loves to lie on the mat with her , as well as drive his big trucks under the arches. I love the bright colors and how plush the mat is.
Each morning we let Elias watch a “show” when he wakes up/hast breakfast. Lately, he has really been into The Tuneables, a new DVD/CD combo pack I was sent to review. From the press release: This new 30-minute animated DVD/CD series, sponsored by the Music Intelligence Project, takes a unique approach to music education. Featuring great animation, children are introduced to the magical world of Tuneville, where the delightful Tuneables characters encourage them to hear and sing tonal patterns in songs, develop their rhythmic skills, expand the range of their singing voices, and become immersed in the sounds and melodies of classical music. It’s really one of the most engaging and educational DVDs in our collection – I can’t recommend it enough.
Elias loves going to school every day. Every night, he tells us about his day and all the fun activities that he does. Last week he told us, out of the blue, that he loved chapel service. 🙂 So sweet.
Elias seems to fall more in loved with Adeline every day. He hugs and kisses her all the time.
Bath time is also a highlight these days. Elias has always loved the bath tub, but now he equally loves helping me give Adeline a bath. He has to have his own washcloth for her and is so darn cute with her.
I love being a mom.
i can hear the pain in your words even though you’re trying to find the joy. your heart is breaking for your friend, and yet you know that you still have to live and breathe when some days that’s the hardest thing of all. i’m praying for sara and though i never knew her, i always took a sneak peek into her world and found comfort in her posts. i’m praying that she will post again. our God is a God of miracles and though we don’t see it yet, He will use this very pain to bring about a blessing. i’m praying for you today.
I’ve been thinking about you this week, praying for you as you walk this road. It’s hard to let go of those we love. Asking for an extra measure of God’s grace for you my friend.
Jessica, I’ve been continally checking back to the link for all the blog posts. Now I cannot find find them at the end of ‘Celebrating Sara. Can you help me that? where do we go to read them now?
Bless you Jessica….I know it’s so hard to accept….find comfort in holding your children and you dear husband and your knowledge of Christ; He is with you and Sara and yes, all of us to only love her through her words and pictures. I’m choosing joy…..in the midst of my sadness.

I can only imagine how hard it is for you to go to work and keep a “normal life” right now. Sara is such a special woman whose legacy will continue for a long time after her passing but that doesn’t take away the pain of the here and now. Praying for you! I respect your strive for normalcy in being a mom and wife right now!
Precious pictures sweetheart…my heart aches to be with them….Love you
Jessica, I’ve followed your blog for the past couple of years and I have one thing I’d like to say to you: I love your heart. You embody the joy in mothering our modern day society does NOT facilitate…. No…. Your joy comes from the Lord. Thank you for sharing your heart. Because it’s beautiful.
Oh Jessica, so sorry your going thru this rough time. You always had such good and fun things to say about Sarah and she loved you and your family so much also. I will keep all of you in my prayers and hope for easy days ahead. Enjoy those sweet little ones. My has it been 3 months already.
I agree with what Julie above me said perfectly. You can hear the joy in your words and your posts/pictures. God bless
Dawn
Jessica, what an incredible friend you are. Seriously. Love on those babies as hard as you can. You radiate love and hope and all that is right with the world. I don’t know Sara, but she has inspired me endlessly to handle my own fatal disease with more grace, more gratitude, and more light.
xo.
