  1. balance with the kids, how do you plan meals? What do you do when you forget to plan a supper? Do you get take out? Do you have sandwiches?

Not only how do you balance with the kids, but how do you make sure you have enough time with Matthew so that everyone feels happy? My husband and I are striving towards making things easier/better, and definitely teamwork is a big part of it.

How do you keep your energy? Caffeine, coffee, vitamins? Trying to find a balance there too 🙂

  2. I am a full time working mom with 4 kids (8,6,4,2). I struggle just to do what I need to do each day just to get by. I love to scrapbook but haven’t done it in years. I need to get my house organized but don’t have the energy or the time to do. But most importantly, I want to spend more quality time with my family. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated!

  3. I just love hearing what other people are doing 🙂 I’m actually getting ready to transition out of working full time (I’m currently active duty and am going to take a break before possibly heading back into the work force).

Thanks for the freebie … it is also free for the Nook today as well.

  4. Just want to say how much I appreciate your blog! I don’t know too many other working moms IRL, so I find your blog really encouraging!!

  5. Thanks for the tip on the freebie! I have the Nook, but when I checked the Barnes & Noble site, it was free there also! So excited to dive in and can’t wait to see your new series of posts! Have a great week!

      1. Going back to work, balancing being a mom for the first time with everything we already do as women, just practical advice for those of us just starting this adventure!

  6. I think most moms just need honest to goodness encouragement in general. It’s easy for us to catch up on other blog sites and see how “together” all the families look. But what isn’t realized is the meltdown that happened just to get that one “perfect picture”. Or how common it is that good intentions often fall by the way-side when real life sets in. Or how an ideal day and a realistic day are always a struggle. Anytime we can talk about our “struggle-to-juggle” then the rest of us can take a deep breath and see “ok good, so I’m not alone in this mess today”. Sharing what we’ve learned that makes this or that better. Sharing frustrations. Sharing solutions. Anything that makes us authentic to each other is not only helpful, but encouraging 🙂

    1. I so agree. My post next month on (in)courage is about that very thing… you can definitely plan on seeing lots of these types of topics. 🙂

  7. ooohooooh – going green with envy here!! Sniff… would have loved the kindle edition next to my hardcopy but alas no freebie for me… or for all outside the US 🙁 Sniff-sniff….

  8. First off, lots and LOTS of pictures ;). Your kids are so adorable!! {& thats coming from a momma who has the most adorable kid in the world ;)} I’m so looking forward to this series. I’d love to hear about meal planning, maybe some go-to recipes, time management, and even marriage tips.

  9. I love the combination of practical wisdom and encouragement.
I get stuck in reading people’s incredible blogs but have no step #1 of how to put some new things into practice (spiritual or cleaning or baking or whatever). Don’t just show me a fab pic of strawberry jelly (for example, not necessarily on your blog) but teach me how you got there.
I also love to hear real stories of real people as I look and see the shiny but find it most encouraging to hear the reality. For instance, I love when you are so honest about how behind you are on your scrap book!! I laugh and nod my head with you, like we are in this together and it lightens my steps.
The wonderful thing about you Jessica is your “I will get there” approach.

  10. I think hearing how you “do it all” (that hated phrase)…all the bloggers I read that have the Most Beautiful Blogs and Children don’t have jobs. Doesn’t seem like anyone is talking about being up at 5:30 packing lunches and commuting 1hr+ and working 10 hrs and figuring out how to get the baby to and from the sitter and the school-ager picked up and to gymnastics and Dad’s complaining about never having enough time at work and…they’re all vacationing every other weekend and lounging by a fire somewhere taking pictures of their (very cute, probably hand-knit) socks. So…how do you do it all?? 😉

  11. And thank you for fessing up that you never finished Project Life!! I did one in ’10 and did finish photos but journal cards died out about mid-October! Still glad I did it though. Treasure that album!!

  12. First of all, I love your blog. I am a full-time working mom of four children (ages 20, 17, 11 and 8). Realizing my children are much older than yours, you have shared some things in the past I wish I would have taken into account while they were younger. I am always looking for ways to be better organized, meal planning, shopping on a very tight budget, etc. I look forward to your series.

And thanks for the heads up about “Organized Simplicity”. It’s downloading to my Kindle now!

  13. I would love to hear what other moms do during that magical time when you first get home after working and picking the kids up to the point when dinner is on the table. I have a hard time balancing wanting to spend time with them since I haven’t seen them since dropping them off, starting dinner so we can eat before 8, and waiting for Daddy to get home and help.
Also curious as to how others handle how to have energy for our husbands and our children at the end of the work day. Some times I feel like the people at work are who get the best of me during the day. Then when I’m at home later I don’t have the energy for those I love the most!

  14. I LOVE that photo of you with Elias & Adeline! Was that taken by a professional photographer? The colours in it are awesome! Definitely one you need to think about framing somewhere!

  15. Hey Jess! Just wanted to say ‘thank you’ for having these blogs! They are SO helpful! I love reading them and learning so much each time I read your entries! You are wonderful for doing this!
PS – I like your momma’s comments as well – miss her and MelMel!
