Project Life: Week 6 (Guest Post)
——————
Hello! A quick introduction: I’m Emily Carter from The Pilot’s Wife. My husband has been a pilot since he was 17, but this year I decided to learn to fly, too. We have an adorable three year old, Miles who keeps us laughing. Sadly our second son, Whitman, was stillborn in October so from time to time I write about miscarriage. We travel a lot. We fly a lot. Want to know more? I can be found elsewhere on facebook, twitter, and instagram (emilypilotswife). And I also am a regular contributor for Simple Kids and A Deeper Story.
(Side note: Jessica and I have been friends for a few years and she’s the reason I got started with Project Life. This self-proclaimed non-scrapbooker even found herself in the scrapbooking aisle at Hobby Lobby last week. What in the world is happening to me?)
Now, on to this week’s pages.
Here’s a shot of everything together. I had several inserts this week.
A closer look at the first page:
I added the “this week” sticker to the date card (Glitz & Glitter brand, found at Hobby Lobby). A couple of instagram photos, and a Valentine from Miles’ school party.
Inserts:
I cut down a 6×12 page protector to hold some Valentine cards for Miles. One from his grandparents and on the other side a bunch of little ones from his school party.
I also recorded A Day in the Life this week on Wednesday. I still need to add the journaling to the backside of this picture collage. I used a Cathy Zielske digital layout and some Clementine card stock.
And the last page:
I kept it simple with four 4x6s and four journaling cards. Possibly my favorite photo this week, though, is the cockpit shot where I’m making the face. That was after a particularly rough landing!
Thanks, Jess, for letting me share here today!
Oh Emily, that face is genius! Love your layouts and the little details 🙂 As much as I’m loving the digital version, I am so excited to do the IRL one next year!
I’ve included so many of these cockpit shots, I was looking for something to make it a little more interesting this time. Um, that’ll do! I’m not exactly sure what to call that expression…
Hello! I am going to head over and check your blog out after this. I love your pages, especially the inserts. That’s one thing I miss out on by doing this digitally, that I wish I could do. You’ve got some great pictures. The inserts are my favorite though, they are just awesome.
Thank you! I didn’t do any inserts at all when I did PL in 2010, and I still like that album, but I know this year is going to be a lot more fun to look through.
Great post Emily. I am a non-scrapbooker too and find myself looking (often) at scrapbooking supplies now…
Looks like you had a good week. I really like the collage and the little Valentine cards – we don’t celebrate like that in Australia, it must be lovely for the children to get so many.
Thanks Sharon! I didn’t know that about Australia. It’s not my favorite holiday by any stretch, but it’s been fun watching Miles this year, as he’s finally old enough to start to get into it.
We don’t celebrate it as a very big event in the UK either. It’s quite cute that your kids receive lots of cards!
Love that day in a life photo collage – thanks for sharing your week with us, Emily!
Thank you! I think it + the journaling from that day will be fun to look back on in a few years.
Thanks for sharing your lovely layout for inspiration. I love that you included Valentines.
Thank you for hosting such a fun linky party. I look forward to it every week. It’s such great motivation to get my pages done!
Thanks Cami! I love that she does it too, and I love seeing everyone else’s pages.
Great guest post and I’m so lovin’ it that you are learning how to “fly” Emily! My son is a “rocket scientist” and for Christmas I got him flying lessons so that he can finish what he started in college. Also learning about you being a converted PLifer…lol
Have a wonderful week, fondly, Roberta
Thanks Roberta! Learning to fly is so, so hard, but I’m loving it at the same time. And yes, Jessica is good at talking people into Project Life! 😉
