Project Life Weeks 14 & 15 – A Video
I started Project Life Tuesday in 2010 because:
- I needed to keep myself accountable and on top of my photos each week.
- My family loved being able to count on a weekly post with pics of the kids.
- I thought others might want to keep themselves accountable too.
It was a huge blessing and so I am excited to be kicking off my third year of this series.
Each Tuesday, I will share my spread from the previous week, as well as host a linky for readers to link up their pictures/layouts. This year, Epson is sponsoring Project Life Tuesday, and they provided me with their Epson Stylus R2880 Large Format Photo Printer (C11CA16201) for many of my album’s photos. Printing photos at home has definitely helped keep me on track and incorporate a wide variety of photo sizes in my album.
I am thrilled to say that I am all caught up on the past two weeks. I had a lot of photos from Easter weekend and was dragging my feet, but I pulled it together, carved out a bunch of time and finished my pages.
I thought it would be fun to try doing a video this week to talk through my pages and give you a glimpse into my album in a more 3D way.
Video notes:
My approach this year for Project Life is all about telling a complete story from the week. For me, this means more photos and more page protectors. I know this approach is not for everyone! DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOU. For me, I am LOVING the opportunity to play with my photos and scrapbooking products again. Using a few protectors each week gives me the flexibility to get creative and incorporate most of my favorite photos. Project Life Tuesday has kept me accountable to staying on top of my weekly layouts.
The new 6×9 pages are Simple Stories page protectors. I love their size and how they fit amidst the big 12×12 pages. Plus they are cheap – only $3.99 for 10 pages.
For my instagrams, I use coin protector pages. I simply trim them to accommodate however many photos I have that week. For more about incorporating instagrams into your Project Life album, click here. I love the tiny pictures in my album! (Speaking of Instagram, did you see Becky Higgins’ announcement re: her new plastic products coming – including 4×12 pages for Instgrams, which will fit three 4×4 photos per side. I love square photos!)
The fun brown fabric thickers on the Play! journaling card (week 15) are by Amy Tangerine. They might be my favorite thickers ever. They are so cute!
My favorite pen for journaling is Sakura’s Microperm 05. I like American Crafts Slick Writers for slightly thicker writing – these are the pens I used this week.
Let me know if you have any questions! I hope you liked the video. Can’t wait to see your pages/photos.
(I’m using a different linky tool this week because I have been having issues with my other one. I hope there are no problems for you in linking up!)
Love the video walk through! Great way to show your weekly pages. I will have to try that next week!
Awesome video Jessica – what a great idea. Your pages are gorgeous 🙂
I’m not the first to do it – just thought it would be a nice change and save me some time since I was doing it this morning.
Love the spring break Instagram collection and it was so cool to hear you talk us through your pages – thanks for sharing! (PS I love both your accent and hearing A babble in the background!)
My accent – a Wisconsin/southern accent – ha! Matthew was filming over my shoulder. I should have had him turn the camera on Adeline. 🙂
Fantastic video – your pages were worth the wait, they look beautiful.
Thanks for sharing.
How do we link up?

LOVE your pages, Jess! Those 6×9 pages are awesome! I SO need to get a bigger variety of pages! That’s on my to-do list! LOVE the coin collector pages for the Instagrams, too! Cute!! Oh, and the video idea is great, too! There’s this other lady who does a video every week and I bookmarked her blog because I loved that idea! SO much easier to walk through everything! I’m going to have to try that! Thanks for the inspiration each week! I’m running late on my week 15 due to being sick (and now my kids are), but hoping to get caught back up soon!
Yes, MaryAnn Perry does them every week. She is amazing! (http://www.cherisheveryday.com/)
I love that your album is more of a scrapbook with all the different sized page protectors. I have been going back and forth about printing at home. I love the convenience of being able to print in any size that I want and the ability to do it late at night if I want to but I have been worried about the cost. Do you have any idea how printing at home and printing through a lab compare?
I think when you print at a lab like Shutterfly, and there is a sale, it is cheaper to print that way. I love the convenience of printing at home, so that makes it worth the expense.
Love your video! Thanks for sharing 🙂 I’m a couple of weeks behind, myself, due to a bunch of family things, but hopefully I’ll be caught up by the end of this week.
Great video! I had some issues linking up…but I think it was more operator error…and it won’t let me delete (that I can see) to try again. Oh well…see you next week! 😀
Loved the video you did this week! I never thought of using coin pages for instagram. Im gonna have to get me some of those!
Watching your video made me 1. miss you 2. adore you 3. want to print out more photos.
amen.
I LOVE YOU! So happy to see your sweet face pop in here. Is it September yet? xoxo
Beautiful, Jessica! Love how your album is coming along! So inspiring too! Thanks for doing the video, such a personal touch (I too love your accent!).
Questions for you…re: instagram…(this is a naive question, so please bear with me)…how does instagram work? I have a bunch of photos on my iPhone…do I upload them & then print? Do you print the photos out on special photo paper? I would love to add that size to my PL album too.
Thanks for sharing your creativity with us!
Best-
Patricia/nyc
I just drag the photos from twitter into photoshop. You can also load them from your phone, but when you drag them from the web, they are 2×2, which is perfect for the coin collector pages. I just print them on photo paper.
Thanks Jessica for the special video this week, was so awesome of you! I enjoyed it and makes me want to do one also. Love being linked up here every week, so much fun to read and share our PL with others.
It was nice to see a video of your pages this week. They look great! I especially love the journalling card with washi tape stuck down the side. Thanks for the inspiration!
I’m crazy about your Instagram insert! Love the video.
I’m crazy about it too. 🙂
