Making Monsters with My Picky Eater + Giveaway
Elias is a picky eater.
Matthew says I have no room to talk. You reap what you sow.
{ahem}
I guess I am a bit picky myself…
Elias is worse though. 🙂
Anyway, motivating him to eat his veggies can be a challenge.
So I decided to jump in feet first when Birds Eye challenged me to make their new, kid-inspired “Yakimaniac Veggie Martians” recipe with Elias.
It was a hit!
A little background from Birds Eye: “This year, Birds Eye set out on a mission to inspire a new generation of vegetable lovers and became first company to go straight to the source, kids, to change the conversation about vegetables. In partnership with Nickelodeon and iCarly’s Jennette McCurdy, the goal was to empower kids’ creativity and encourage them to share their inspiration with others.
Kids submitted more than 16,000 veggie-centric recipe ideas through the Nickelodeon partnership, giving inspiration to several new recipes.”
Because Elias is so into monsters, I told him we were going to make Veggie Monsters and he was hooked.
He helped mix all the ingredients (in our Pampered Chef batter bowl that I love so much) and make the monsters.
His favorite part was using the glitter gel to make the monsters blue and green.
The finished monsters were adorable.
But, the best part was that Elias actually ATE THE MONSTER he made.
And I basically felt like Mom of the year. 🙂

My grand daughter loves vegetables and would rather have carrots or spinach for a snack than a piece of candy. Her school was doing a special event where the children had to try something new to eat each day to earn a reward. First up was vegetables and we couldn’t think of any she hadn’t tried, until we hit on brussle sprouts. So dinner that evening the veggie was brussle sprouts and she picked one up and took a bite and got the funniest look on her face. When asked if she liked them she said no and that they didn’t taste like pretzles at all! She thought they were called pretzle sprouts!
My 2 year old use to eat anything we put on her plate but lately she has become super picky. These fun veggie ideas might be just what we need!
I love this idea! It’s really hard to get anyone in my family to eat anything other than green beans! That would be their fave, but there are so many other awesome veggies out there that I know they’d love!
I hit the jackpot – my daughter loves so many food… including vegetables. As a toddler her favorite was spinach. But now she loves her veggies roasted. I’m so picky – her taste buds are a genetic gift from her father! Best wishes to all of you that struggle with your little ones nutrition.
