Easy Handprint Ornament Project
This year I really wanted to carve out time to make some handmade ornaments with the kids, so I was thrilled when Child to Cherish offered to send me their kit
The kit came with everything you need to make a keepsake handprint ornament and was so, so easy. I literally made it with Adeline in 5 minutes one morning before work. (Perfect for a busy mom like me.)
Easy Handprint Ornament Project
You first squeeze the clay to get out any air bubbles, then roll it with the included little rolling pin.
Then you have to convince your 17-month-old to give you her hand, all the while she does this:
Once you finally get her little hand, you just press it into the clay.
And then if the print isn’t good, you might have to convince your toddler to do it one more time. Mercy.
Then you just trim the excess with the handy ring cutter from the kit
And patiently wait for it to dry so you can put ribbon in it and hang it on your tree!

I’m all about handprints. I traced my children’s hands on construction paper, cut them out, wrote their name and date on the bottom of the palm and then covered them with contact paper. They made me quit at 16 years old. My youngest is 10 so I still do his. I hang the first year ones on the tree and then use the others as garland around the house. I never tire of looking at those little (and big!) handprints.
How sweet! I did this too, when my son was 6 mos. old (his first Christmas) and gave them to all the special people in his life. He’s now 11 and every year that tiny handprint becomes more precious. Happy Holidays!
I did this the first couple of years with my daughter — I went to put away her baby one last year after Christmas and then thought “No, I like this too much to only put it out for a few weeks a year!” It’s been hanging on my kitchen wall ever since, and I love seeing it there every day:)
