(in)RL 2013 – Join In?
I always say, the best blogging yes I ever said was to be a writer for (in)courage. That community has changed my life. The women. Their words. Their hunger for Jesus. It’s real. And it’s a gift.
In 2012, (in)courage decided to get local. (in)RL was born out of two years spent listening to women in the comments at (in)courage craving local, real life community. Derived from the social media acronym “IRL” or “in real life,” (in)RL is an invitation to share what we’ve learned about community and encourage women with stories and suggestions for connecting deeper in real life.
Think of it as a FREE girl’s weekend away that doesn’t require packing or plane tickets, where women can kick off any expectation of perfect, set aside their fears, their shyness, their worry that they’re not good enough, and find some of Jesus’s words of rest woven into every video shared. Get a taste here:
This year’s (in)RL is slated for Friday April 26 and Saturday, April 27. On Friday, enjoy a webcast in the comfort of your own home. Then, on Saturday, participate in a local meet-ups on Saturday, April 27 where you’ll have the opportunity to connect with women from your local area, watch videos together from (in)courage and enjoy real community.
Last year, Annie, Angie and I hosted a big (in)RL gathering here in Nashville. This year, we want things to be smaller and more intimate.
I plan to host an event in West Nashville/Bellevue area. If you live in that area of town, you are invited to my home for a fun time (in)RL… and I promise I won’t ask you to help strip my new home’s hideous wallpaper that will surely still be on the walls. 🙂 (Click here to RSVP)
And if you aren’t in Nashville, check out the meet-ups page to see if there is a gathering in your area. If there isn’t, consider hosting one! (The average attendance at (in)RL gatherings last year was less than 10).
I know that as a busy mom, it can be difficult to do things just me. Can you relate? Here are a few more thoughts about that – and why that is EXACTLY WHY you should come to (in)RL.
Last year we explored the nitty gritty of community. This year we’re taking a closer look at what it takes to stay rooted in community when sometimes just walking away would be so much easier and tons more convenient. Women share stories of how they’ve chosen to stay through hard marriages, challenging parenting, worthwhile friendships. How choosing to stay has freed them more fully and unexpectedly than if they’d cut and run.

Ann Voskamp – One Thousand Gifts – Photo Gift Book: This book is on sale for $10.99 (basically the same price as Amazon) and is simply beautiful. It would make a great gift for a friend, for your mom (Mother’s Day!), or your child’s teacher.

Peanuts Christmas – Merry Christmas – Advent Calendar: Put this in your Christmas stash for next year. It’s only $1.99 (regularly $9.99). Our family loves the Peanuts Christmas movie. 🙂
