Project Life Tuesday: Weeks 4 & 5
Welcome to Project Life Tuesday 2013 If you are new to The Mom Creative, welcome. I hope you will stay awhile. I’m Jessica – wife to Matthew, mom to Elias, a silly and spirited four-year-old, and Adeline, a spunky one-year-old. I’m also a marketing professional, savvy deal finder, photo lover and memory keeper trying to juggle it all.
Each Tuesday, I share my most recent spread as well as host a linky for readers to link up their pictures/layouts.
Today, I am sharing weeks 4 and 5. They were both big weeks with lots of photos.
Week 4: January 20-26
Page protectors used: 2 Design As, Design J and an 8.5 x 11
For the left side, I kept things very simple using just one journaling card, plus a small journaling card on the top photo. I also added a sticker to the little picture of Adeline at the doctor.
For the Design J insert, I used cards from my Seafoam kit + some Love Elsie stickers from my stash. I like how the This is Life card ads a nice pop of color. I wrote around the design circle.
On the back side I inserted the business cards that I took to Alt. I also made a screen capture of a Facebook post of Matthew’s and added that in.
On the next insert, I made a collage of many of my instagrams from Alt. At the bottom of the page, I added some Dear Lizzy stickers + thickers for ALT.
On the back of the Alt insert, I trimmed some cardstock from my stash and inserted a few keepsakes from the conference. I love how the cardstock adds a pop of color to the spread. (I opted not to get the coordinating cardstock this year and instead try to use my stash more often, since the volume of cardstock that I have is embarrassing.)
The last page focuses on my trip to Alt. The top corner journaling card is all about the conference (I added washi tape to the corner to add some color) and the other card is about packing with the kids underfoot.
Week 5: January 27-February 2
Pages used: 2 Design As, We Are Memory Keepers page with 6×12 slot, 8.5×11, Design G
Woah! Another big week. I have just resolved that I am probably going to need three albums this year, and I’m okay with that. I love getting lots of photos in my album.
For the first page, I incorporated lots of journaling bits directly on my photos since I used so many photos.
The photos across the center of page one unite with the large 12×6 photo on page 2.
The journaling block on the 12×6 photo is about that sequence of photos + the four 3x3s at the bottom of the page. I trimmed the journaling block from a We R Memory Keepers journaling pack that I got at Target. I added number stickers to correspond with the journaling.
The back of the 12×6 page + the next two inserts are all from my Day in the Life documentation (more about that below). I didn’t add any journaling to the photos because my daily sheets detail everything.
I love having so much handwriting in my album.
The front side of the Design G insert is mostly Adeline photos, while the back is mostly Elias. I’m missing one photo on the Adeline page that I plan to get developed with my next batch of photos.
The last page is all photos from our “snow day” in Nashville. We got a few inches that Saturday morning and we had a ball in it with the kids. I used a few Fancy Pants winter rub-ons that I have had in my stash forever. I was so happy to use them. The single journaling card tells all about the day.
Day in the Life
As seen in today’s post, each month I am following Ali Edwards’ lead and doing a more in-depth day-in-the-life look at things for my Project Life album. For my documenting, I am using Ali’s free daily sheets + a Design J page protector. It keeps things very simple for me. (Tip: I printed 12 of the sheets so I have them ready to go each month and don’t have the scramble the day before.)
I plan to always do this sometime during the last week of the month. I will be doing my documenting tomorrow. I’ll definitely be doing some of that documenting on Instagram. You can follow me here.
Project Life posts worth checking out
Did you see these free Oscar printable 3×4 cards that were linked up last week by Laura Kate is Crafty. Love them! I plan to incorporate them into my album to write about Sunday’s Oscar night.
I also thought Life Out Loud’s use of a primary teeth chart was BRILLIANT! Adeline just cut two teeth and I definitely copied this – you’ll see it next week.
Your turn to link up! Also, just a friendly reminder to please remember to link back to The Mom Creative in your posts. Thank you!

(so sorry if you were an early bird with your links… the linky tool wasn’t working and had to be reset!)
Love it, Jess!
Great pages! Love the cowboy letters on the picture of your son!
Alt looks like so much fun! Love all the instagrams.
Those cowboy shots are just adorable too.
Such great photos! Thanks for sharing!
Love all the extra inserts and that they’re different sizes. I’m forcing myself to stick to the page protectors I’ve got so I can use them up before buying more, so all my extra inserts are letter sized.
You obviously have way more control than me.
This is one of my favorite week’s of yours ever. LOVE all those inserts! You gave me some great ideas:)
Jess, great work!!.. as always! I LOVE the big picture! I’ve been using photosheet to print multiple pics. I love how easy the program is. You just drag your picrures and re-arrange them where you want them! AND it resizes your pics to the size you want when you save the file. Here’s a link.
