  1. Here is my reading update for the month. I slowed down considerably too…I started and am still reading Sally Clarkson’s The Mission of Motherhood. It is so good, but is full of so much useful information and reference to scripture that I slowly working my way through it. I’m a little over halfway now. I did read and finish Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks. I want to see the movie, but always want to digest the book first. It was a nice easy read to break up the other book.

    Thanks for the update!

  2. I’m reading the Prayer book as scheduled on Bloom… ok, I’m a couple of days behind =) Also reading Let. It. Go. by Karen Ehman, Blessings by Anna Quindlen, Calling Me Home by Julie Kibler, and the Great Influenza. Best read in February? Not a Fan by Kyle Idleman. Thanks for sharing your list… had most of them on mine, but added the Daring Greatly. I”m ALWAYS looking for good reads!

  3. I read “Sparkly Green Earrings” in 2 days. It was so good. I loaned it to a friend and cannot wait to get it back so I can re-read my favorite parts! I never read books that quick unless we are on a trip or something. I also re-read “The Red Tent” for bookclub. I didn’t love it as much this time as I did the first time I read it 10 years ago. Maybe just my different phase of life now.

  4. Jessica, I know you’ve said Elias can be described as a “boisterous boy” like my son. We had an educational consultant come to our home last night to help and advise us concerning our next step in schooling. She suggested we read the following books, and I thought I’d pass the names of them along to you in case they might be helpful. I will say that we named one problem area last night, she gave us some ideas and insight into his little mind….the ideas worked like a charm (so far!)

Mindset: the New Psychology of Success
    Why Gender Matters
    Loving our Kids on Purpose

  5. Seriously…that’s an amazing list of books. I have heard good things about all of those books, although that last one i’ve not heard of, so i’ll definitely have to check it out. So love people sharing what they have on their ‘too read’ list…*sigh* so many books, so little time 😉

  6. I have two of those on my nightstand now too….I’ve started reading Sparkly Green Earrings after attending the dotMom convention in Dallas, TX last weekend where the Big Mama emceed. (there’s a dotMom convention coming to Chattanooga this Fall…I’d highly suggest it for you since I know you live in Nashville. Find a friend and go…it’s so totally encouraging and inspiring!) I also recently bought You Were Made for a God Sized Dream….because God has been telling me for years to write a book and now I feel like I have the courage to dive in!

  7. I love hearing what others are reading. Today I finished That Woman — it is a biography of Wallis Simpson, the woman the King of England abdicated to be with (and why his brother became king, the story of The King’s Speech).
I am also reading a book on taste in picking baby names — I love names, so I find that kind of research fascinating:)
Also read A Girl from Yamhill, Beverly Cleary’s autobiography.
And I just started a book my husband gave me for my birthday — I very ironically can’t remember the title…it’s a book about learning to think like Sherlock Holmes and retain info well;)

  8. Thanks for the reco for the ebook and the coupon code 🙂

I’ve had my DSLR for just a few months and am always looking for quick tips on getting great photos of my kids. I don’t want to spend a ton of time or effort in learning lots about the gory details of photography, so this book sounds perfect!
