The Smell of Laundry & Weekend Plans
Happy Friday! I am SO thankful its the weekend. We have several fun things planned, plus time for projects too the perfect balance.
Tonight we will be picking up Lainey, the 2-year-old of our sweet friends Kristen and Chip. They are headed out of town for a work trip & we get the fun part of having a playmate over night.
Elias and Adeline stayed at Lainey’s house a few weeks ago when Matthew and I were at Killer Tribes, so we are excited to return the favor – and have some fun of our own.
Tonight we are also having our friends the Bergstroms over for dinner. We’ll be serving chicken marsala, which is my go-to recipe of choice when we have guests over on a weeknight. It is easy (crock-pot!) + delicious.
Tomorrow we have a late morning (11:15) soccer game. I have really fallen in love with Elias’s soccer Saturdays. Since the game is right before lunch, I am going to bring a little picnic for Adeline and Lainey to enjoy while we watch the game.
Sunday Matthew has his radio show and we will go to church. In the afternoon, my friend Katie is going to come over with her little girl Hannah and we are going let the kids play while we do a freezer cooking session using Wildtree products. Have you heard of them? I’m super excited about the prospect of getting 10 meals ready in an hour! (Although, knowing us, we will likely be talking so much it will take a little longer).
I’ll also be working hard on Project Life this weekend since I am headed to Snap next weekend. I have been squeezing in time for photos all week, so I should be able to get a bunch developed and in my album.
And of course, there’s the laundry monster. It never ends, does it? My mom got me all caught up when she was here for Easter (bless her!), but the baskets didn’t stay empty for very long.
I was thankful that Gain sent me their new Ocean Escape to try out on my laundry. I had never used Gain detergent before last weekend. I used it to wash all of our bedding and I must say, everything still smells so fresh.
This weekend I will be washing three baskets of clothes with Gain. While I don’t look forward to folding all those clothes, I do look forward to them being clean and smelling fresh.
I love the smell of clean clothes. It makes me so happy and reminds me of my childhood.
Isn’t it crazy how smells evoke such strong emotions?
I loved the scent of Ocean Escape, which smells just like spring. It made me want to get some fresh flowers to put on my table and open all the windows and take a “scentcation”. 🙂 Gain has two other lovely scents: Sunflower & Sunshine or Hawaiian Aloha.
Is laundry on your agenda this weekend? Do you love the smell of clean clothes?
It sounds like you have a very full weekend planned! I am impressed that you are planning to do a bunch of freezer cooking with several children underfoot. I’ve never attempted it, but I always assumed that would require hiring a babysitter or sending my kid off to a relative’s house.
Well it only takes an hour and our deck is off the kitchen, so they can play and we can keep an eye on them while we cook. 🙂
We do at least 2 loads of laundry a DAY. Family of 5 plus 2 dogs = lots of mess. Love GAIN!!
Super excited!!
Who DOESN’T love the smell of clean clothes?! That photo is adorable.
Ahhhhhhh the laundry monster…I’m way too familiar. It always seems to get the best of me! It’ definitely on the agenda for this weekend and every weekend. Ha!
With a family of 5 and 3 that play hockey – we are a 2 load a day family. Love the smell of clothes fresh out of the wash. I adore the tub picture above! Have the same one about 10 years ago with kids.
I am SO excited about this weekend! It’s beautiful here in Philly and we don’t have any particular plans. I hope to get caught up on work and finish changing over our closets from winter to spring and purging outgrown/unworn clothes. WOO!
Those kids are PRESH! And if you have to clean their clothes at least you’ve got good detergent RIGHT?! Oh and I wrestle with that laundry monster- EVERY DAY!
Super excited for you to try Wildtree and the freezer meal workshops! xo
So agree about smells evoking memories… the smell of clean laundry is the best!!
I don’t mind doing the laundry. Its the folding (meh) and the putting away (argh) for three kids and two adults that I dislike!
