Project Life Tuesday: Week 19
Welcome to Project Life Tuesday 2013 If you are new to The Mom Creative, welcome. I hope you will stay awhile. I’m Jessica – wife to Matthew, mom to Elias, a silly and spirited four-year-old, and Adeline, a spunky one-year-old. I’m also a marketing professional, savvy deal finder, photo lover and memory keeper trying to juggle it all.
Each Tuesday, I share my most recent spread as well as host a linky for readers to link up their pictures/layouts. Some links are affiliate links.
This weekend we were so busy that I didn’t even get started on Project Life until Sunday night. And being that I was five weeks behind, I was a little overwhelmed with the volume of photos to go through. But I took it a week at a time and got through three weeks of photos (selecting, editing and planning my pages). I’m hoping with a little diligence, I might get close to caught up by the end of the week. I’m keeping things as they were intended with Project Life and not using a bunch of embellishments, etc. to try to streamline the process.
Today I am going to share week 19, which was the first week in my second album. Since we just had family photos done on Saturday (did you see the sneak peak on Instagram?), I will likely use those for the first page of album two.
Pages used: Design A, Design B (trimmed) and Design I.
I really mixed cards from a lot of kits this week – my date card is from Seafoam and my journaling cards are from Jade, Honey and the Bridgeport childhood kit.
My Design A protector is super simple – just photos + one journaling card + one text card from Bridgeport.
For my Design I insert, I used all phone photos and a grid card with stickers on it to journal about the photos.
I had one extra photo, so I trimmed it and added it to the grid card on the back. Perfect.
For the Design B insert, I trimmed one row off the bottom and one off the side to make it smaller to meet my needs. I really love having full size 4×6 vertical photos in the spread.
All the photos on the front side are phone photos. The back is all photos taken before and during a baby shower Adeline and I went to.
The week of May 5 had some really high and some really low moments. To keep them private, but still include them in my album, I used two folded journaling cards. I labeled them “the best day” and “the worst day” and wrote on the inside of the cards.
I also used a sports journaling card from Bridgeport to write about Elias’s soccer game/season. It fit perfectly!

Every week my Project Life pages include phone photos. I am always looking for ways to improve my phone photography, which is why I am so excited for the Phone Photography Project class. Today is the LAST day to sign up for the reduced rate of $39. Tomorrow it jumps up to $49. It is going to be incredible + have tons of tips and inspiration for you to kick up your phone photos a few notches.
I always like the way Sarah at The Arena Update mixes photos + embellishments in her Project Life album.
Love all the kids art Michelle included in her Week 21 spread. I have a bunch of my kids’ art in my week 20 layout that I will share next week.
Grace and Light’s Project Life art journal is so cool!

@Jessica – thanks again for hosting this. Question re: journaling you don’t want people to see. Do YOU go back and read it? Do you have lots of places where you expect people to slip the cards out and read? I don’t have any because I don’t want people messing with my pockets 😉 I just wonder how you indicate what’s ok for people to read, or if you’re not expecting others to read it and it’s just for you.
I very rarely do hidden journaling because I don’t think it is practical. People don’t for the most part pull out cards to read, etc. So, I guess it is mostly for me and for the story to be documented for future generations who might read the stories in my scrapbooks.
That said, in the case of this week at least, if someone is looking at my album in person, then chances are they know the stories written in those cards. 🙂
Thanks! Good point about people who see it in person knowing what’s up. Hope everything is ok now for you and your family.
I love the ‘Worst Day’ ‘Best Day’ cards, very cute. I really enjoy cutting up the big protectors and tailoring them to what I want.
I really think the smaller page protectors make the album so much more interesting to look at. Love them.
That’s a great idea with the hidden journaling. Thanks for sharing!
I love cutting up the page protectors too.
I’ve always enjoyed your pages and now that I just started a blog, I’m looking forward to joining the link up party. Of course I didn’t get my page done in time for today due to a DIY project taking up my weekend but hoping to link up later this week.
Jessica,
Beautiful pages and beautiful pictures of your family, as always. Your labeled hidden journaling is brilliant and I really like the photo collage that you included on the back of your insert page. Thanks for this link-up: it is wonderful to have a “go to” place to catch up on everyone’s PL progress and thanks also for the link to my blog. I really appreciate it! 🙂
Thanks for the shout out!!
I always love how creative you are with the inserts, never afraid to trim it to suit your needs! (And your private journaling cards are PERFECT.)
It’s beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
I love looking at your Project Life pages 🙂 I just started using Project Life and am loving it. I do have a question for you. Is there a suggested maximum amount of pages that an album will hold? I bought the Jade kit off of HSN, so that is the album I have right now. Thank you in advance 🙂
You might check out Becky’s website, but I think it is around 60 pages.
