Project Life Tuesday: Week 21
Welcome to Project Life Tuesday 2013 If you are new to The Mom Creative, welcome. I hope you will stay awhile. I’m Jessica – wife to Matthew, mom to Elias, a silly and spirited almost five-year-old, and Adeline, a spunky two-year-old. I’m also a marketing professional, savvy deal finder, photo lover and memory keeper trying to juggle it all. For lots more inspiration, follow me on Facebook!
Each Tuesday, I share my most recent spread as well as host a linky for readers to link up their pictures/layouts. Some links are affiliate links.
With Adeline’s birthday party this weekend, I was lucky to get one layout done! Thankfully I had edited the photos earlier, so I just had to put the spread together. Once again, I appreciated how simple Project Life makes it to document memories – even when you are busy.
Week 21: May 19-25
Pages used: Design A, Design H (two pages, one trimmed), and We R Memory Keepers 12×12 page (with 12×6 and 3×3 slots).
For the first page, I kept things very simple with lots of photos + one journaling card. You can also see I used a rub-on from my stash on the date card. An extra flower sneaked in above the bird, but oh well. It doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful, right?
Then for the first Design H insert, I trimmed top row of slots off to make the page 6×8. I added an embellished paper clip to make the page easy to turn and break up the two pages since they are the same width.
The back side was equally simple with just photos + words. 🙂
The second Design H insert was all photos from my friend Angie and her daughter Charlotte’s birthday party. I did all the journaling for the insert on the single card.
The last page is a We R Memory Keepers page. I love having the option to include large photos within my spreads. This page has a 12×6 slot and eight 3×3 slots. (I printed all these photos on my printer at home) I trimmed the I Love Today card (from the Honey edition) and glued it to my 12×6 photo, then added journaling to the top portion of the card. I also trimmed the quote card from the Bridgeport childhood kit. I thought it was our so perfect for the photos on the page. (It says, “We teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about.”)
Project Life at Michaels
In case you missed the news, you can now get Project Life at Michaels! I made a quick video to share all the products I found at my local Michaels. Check it out.
Project Life posts and links worth checking out
Just a reminder that the phone photography class from Big Picture Classes kicks off July 1. If you haven’t signed up for this class yet, don’t delay. It is chock full of inspiration, phone photography tips and projects you can do with your phone photos. I’m so honored to be one of the instructors for the class! (Follow me on Instagram here.)
As always, Nita’s pages are amazing.
I love how Emily added scrap quilt fabric to her album. (For inspiration of 100 bits of life you can include in your album, check out this free printable!)
Also, check out how Rachel incorporated little instagrams into her spread! Her design is so clean and pretty.
Your turn to link up! Also, just a friendly reminder to please remember to link back to The Mom Creative in your posts. Thank you!
I love how you focus on photos+words. And the pages turn out beautifully.
Thank you for the kind way for pointing to my blog. I am a Project Life addict and I search frequently to inspiration and here I found so much! I love the worlwide connection between people through PL.
greeting from the Netherlands- Nita
I love your pages Nita. 🙂 Hope to visit the Netherlands someday. Peace to you.
Jessica, would you mind sharing which Michael’s location you visited? My store in FL isn’t on the list, but we are visiting family in Nashville next week. I am hoping I can grab some PL goodies while we are in town :).
You can see the full list of Michaels stores that have Project Life here: http://www.beckyhiggins.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Michaels-700-PL-Store-List.pdf
I think all the Nashville stores are on the list!
If you have the opportunity to visit my country – i love to guide you as a local to show the most beautiful places! I live near Amsterdam….
Have a nice day!
Love the sweet swing pictures. The one with just their feet is so precious.
Your title card is beautiful! It works so well with the colors of your spread. Thanks as always for hosting this!
I love all of your cute photos and your journaling cards. Even though I do my pages digitally, you’ve totally inspired me to want to print/write/scan for a page. 🙂
Hi! I love your blog and read it everyday, even though I think this may be my first time commenting. Your Project Life pages are awesome!! I do PL myself, I have 3 kids, and try to keep it to one family album a year (plus I have an ongoing album for each kiddo). Sometimes I wish I would have gone with the digital version. I love love love having actual photos printed and little pockets to stick things in, however I keep asking myself….”How will my children be able to divide these albums up one day?” Do you ever wonder about that? What are your thoughts? With digital I figure. Could print 3 of each album. Also…I notice u use really cute stickers to add journaling directly to your photos. I would love to know where to find those.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful blog. 🙂
Diane
I don’t really wonder about that… ha! I plan to keep the albums until I die, so they can figure it out then. 🙂 All the photos are digital of course, so they can always print more. I think having my handwriting in the album is important and I like the tactile process, so I could never do digital. I don’t want to spend more time on a computer!
I did a yearly photo book for Elias too, but now that I have two, I haven’t figure out how to do that!
You can get stickers pretty much anywhere. I like Martha Stewart label stickers (Office Max) and use them a lot. Archivers has a great selection, as do craft stores like Michaels and JoAnns.
I should add that I have thought about doing separate PL albums for each of the kids, but haven’t really figured out what they would look like. 🙂 Someday!
Thanks for the tips on the labels. Wouldn’t have thought of Office Max. 🙂 I am doing a PL style album for each of my children. It starts at school age…I include bit of their life like art, report cards, sports pics, etc etc. I LOVE having the place to also write little letters to them.
As for digital vs hands on scrapping, I am totally with you. I love that my handwriting is in all the books and my little personal touches make the PL albums unique.
Thanks so much for taking the time to respond to my comment. 🙂
