Friday Links: TGIF Edition
Happy Friday! First of all, thank you for all your encouragement and kind words about my big announcement yesterday. It meant so much to me.
As for weekend plans, well we don’t have much scheduled! Hooray! It will be nice to do some things around the house and just hang out. On Saturday, I think I might take the kids to a local splash pad since it is supposed to be such a beautiful day. Of course, I’ll also carve out some time to work on Project Life.
Things to Read
Matthew is leaving for Guatemala in a few weeks with World Vision with an incredible team including Roo from Neon Fresh. Her post Egg for Dinner brought goosebumps to my arms and an aching in my heart.
This article on 9 Things You Should Know About Child Brides left me undone. More than 9 million girls are married without their consent each year. It’s awful.
And this post on 3 Things You Don’t Know About Your Children and Sex is one that every parent should read. Elias and Adeline are so young and I am already worried about this stuff for them.
I love the way my friend Angie sees the world and the Lord. Portion was one that had me thinking all week.
We are planning to start some major remodeling on our home next month and I have been thinking a lot about it. I haven’t posted many pictures of our new home because I can’t help but think, I don’t want to show it now, I want to show the afters. But this post For When Your Floors are Tacky reminded me how thankful I am for my home, ugly wallpaper and all.
You might have heard about the recent plane crash in Alabama. What you might not know is that a non-profit Freeset lost $75,000 worth of merchandise in that crash. You can help them recoup those funds and stay afloat Give Hope to Freeset here. I just bought my first Freeset bag and was so sad to hear this news. Together we can help them!
Video to Watch
This music video played on repeat for me this week. Love it.
Deal Site You Should Know
Matthew has recently been really into Jack Threads, a flash deal site for men. They have awesome clothing, shoes, accessories and home goods. Definitely worth checking out, especially with the holidays in the not-to distant future.
Books to Read
If you have a teen girl in your life, Annie Downs’ new book Speak Love: Making Your Words Matter is a must-buy. Her heart for teens and for the mean girl phenomenon to end is incredible. I know this book is going to impact our next generation of women and I hope you will buy a copy.
I love all things Will & Kate and so had to buy the children’s book Shhh! Don’t Wake the Royal Baby. It arrived (from England) yesterday and we read it last night. Y’all!! It is ADORABLE. A must-add to your children’s book collection. So, so cute. It doesn’t have names in it, just the duke, duchess, etc. but it is totally Will & Kate, the Queen, even Harry and Pippa make an appearance. (Adeline loved saying PIPPA!) Totally worth $7.
I also just ordered Llama Llama and the Bully Goat, since we are such HUGE Llama Llama fans in our house. Anna Dewdney’s latest one looks awesome and I can’t wait to add it to our collection.
Becoming Myself: Embracing God’s Dream of You is a new book by Staci Eldredge that I’m looking forward to diving into it in the coming week.
Have a great weekend!
Llama Llama is pretty popular in our school library as well.
We LOVE Llama Llama books! Definitely a favorite here too! Have a great weekend!
Oh, I love Staci Eldridge. I’ll pick that up for my BFF too, thanks Jess!
Jessica! Long time no see! (We are moving to Nashville Wednesday – yay!) I just wanted to say thank you so much for kindly linking that post. I really appreciate it!
Much love.
Oh, and congrats on the book thingy! 🙂
I totally get it about the house thing. We moved into our home a year ago and most of the house is fine except for the bathrooms and kitchen. I don’t take pics either. Re-doing it such a process, it takes time and money. We have managed to get new countertops for the kitchen, next is a backsplash, then the floor. Your post though reminds me that I should be more appreciative of what I do have.
