Project Life Tuesday: Week 35 (Just Add Color)
Welcome to Project Life Tuesday 2013 If you are new to The Mom Creative, welcome. I hope you will stay awhile. I’m Jessica – wife to Matthew, mom to Elias, a silly and spirited five-year-old, and Adeline, a spunky two-year-old. I’m also a marketing professional, savvy deal finder, photo lover and memory keeper trying to juggle it all.
Each Tuesday, I share my most recent spread as well as host a linky for readers to link up their pictures/layouts. Some links are affiliate links. This week’s post is a special American Crafts sponsored post is about the Project Life Just Add Color HSN edition.
My apologies that this post didn’t get up yesterday! I had the best of intentions. Unfortunately with Matthew being in Guatemala and my camera being a little funny things just didn’t work out.
That said, I’m so excited to share this week’s spread. It might be one of my favorite Project Life spreads ever.
Week 35: August 25-31 (featuring the HSN Just Add Color Project Life edition)
Pages used: Design Q, HSN 3 (trimmed), HSN 2
I’m jumping ahead a few weeks in my album to share the new limited edition Just Add Color kit, an Instagram friendly Project Life bundle that will be available next Tuesday, September 17 only on HSN. Last week, I shared a video of the kit that is a must-see to get a sense of what is included in Just Add Color. It is unlike any Project Life kit ever released.
The HSN bundle will include an album, the Just Add Color Core Kit and photo pocket pages and stickers. (The price isn’t available right now, but based on past Project Life sales on HSN , I expect it to be $50-$60.)
- 60 4×6 title cards
- 20 4×6 journaling cards
- 80 4×4 journaling cards
- 400 2×2 filler cards
- 80 basic cards
- 12 sticker sheets
- A stamp
- 60 page protectors (4 of each design, including 3 limited edition that are just available for this kit)
I used three of the four available page protectors this week so that you could really get a sense of the fun design of this exclusive HSN kit.
For page one (Design Q), I kept things pretty simple- four photos + 2 of the square journaling cards from the Just Add Color kit.
I also added stickers from the kit to the photo of Elias + the yellow journaling card. I love the perfectly coordinating stickers!
The trimmed HSN 3 page is all photos from when we went to Cumberland Park in downtown Nashville. Because I had SO many photos from our time there, the 2×2 slots were the perfect way for me to incorporate a lot of photos into a single page (21 photos combined – front and back).
BTW: If you have a SLR camera and don’t have a 50 mm fixed lens, you must get one. I love how that lens captures water! (I have a 50 mm 1.4, but started our with a 50mm 1.8. I don’t think the photo quality is that different – the 1.4 is just a lot nicer body.)
Doesn’t it look amazing? I love, love, LOVE it! The pictures really speak for themselves, so I just added one 2×2 card from the kit.
The last page (HSN 2) is probably my favorite style in the Just Add color kit. I LOVE the 4″ row of 2×2 slots.
I incorporated a few 2×2 journaling cards in with Instagrams from the week. I also used three 6×4 photos + a 6×4 journaling card from the kit, which was perfect to write about many of the photos from the week.
I definitely will be buying one of these kits from HSN next week because I don’t think we will ever see these formats of page protectors again and I LOVE them! The 2×2 cards are also great for adding on to larger photos too. I’ll be sure to post when the sale is live. 🙂
Project Life Links to Check Out
Many new Project Life kits are hitting/have hit Amazon. A few favorites include Sunshine core kit (by Emma & Elsie), Heritage core kit (perfect for those old photos), Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party Mini Kit and Amy Tangerine Cut & Paste Mini Kit.
Don’t forget to take advantage of the free Shutterfly 8×8 book! This offer ends TODAY. (Remember, several Project Life templates are available on Shutterfly. They are so fun.)
Ali Edwards’ 12×12 trimmed Paris photo for Project Life is a must-see.
And for more Just Add Color, I loved Simple As That’s beautiful take on it because it is so different than mine!
Awesome pages, as always! 🙂 Loving this kit! Where do you get your 2×2 pictures printed?
I should have mentioned that in the post. I actually cropped them down to 2×2 and put them on a 6×4 canvas in photoshop so I could develop them at Walgreens. Easy and cheap!
Thanks so much! I just received the kit and it’s awesome. The only problem I seem to keep having is that the albums have a very strong smell to them –wondering if it’s just me or if others feel this way. It has happened with the WRMK albums, too. Bummer.
This just gets me even more excited about Just Add Color! Can’t wait to get it next week. I already ordered the new photo overlays that just showed up on HSN.
