A Few Great Reads for Your Summer
After several months of very little reading (thanks to awful morning sickness and that bone-tired pregnancy exhaustion) I am finally getting back in my grove.
I’ve read a few FANTASTIC books that I happy to share with you.
The Orphans of Race Point: I ADORED this book. RUN to Amazon or your local bookstore and buy it immediately (The kindle version is on sale for just $1.99). I couldn’t wait to finish it so I could tell y’all about it. While reading The Orphans of Race Point, I was so consumed with the fascinating story. I could not stop thinking of the characters or what would happen next (so many fantastic twists). Without question, this will be on my top 10 books of the year, and likely will add to my top 10 fiction books of all time. (Read an interview with the author here.)
Whistling Past the Graveyard: I picked this book up in the airport to go to my publisher after realizing I hadn’t brought a single thing to read. I proceeded to read the whole thing in 48 hours. If you liked The Help or The Secret Life of Bees you’ll love this story. Set in the 60s south, the storytelling is captivating and fast-paced. I loved it. (Read an interview with the author here.)
Let’s All Be Brave: Living Life with Everything You Have: I’d be remiss to not mention my friend Annie Downs’ new book because I think it is one we all need. Though I am not quite finished with it, I can say that it is an utter-delight, written with Annie’s signature style of humor mixed with truth. Her words communicate her heart and the heart’s cry of so many women I know. A perfect read for your summer.
I’ve started using Good Reads to track the books I’m reading, find new books to read, etc. If you are on there too, let’s connect!
What books have you been enjoying this summer?
Thanks for the book recommendations! The Orphans of Race Point is on sale on Amazon for $1.99 for the Kindle edition!
Great news! Will add to the post.
The invention of wings and the boys on the boat. Amazing!
Thanks for sharing! Will add them to my reading list.
Oh, I see two friends on here! Thank you so much for linking to the author interview! We also did one with Susan Crandall- http://www.momadvice.com/post/sundays-with-writers-whistling-past-the-graveyard-by-susan-crandall. I only mention it because she offered so much insight into the creation of that book. I am definitely going to have to check out, “Let’s All Be Brave.”
Love you, sweetie! xo
You and I always love the same books! 🙂 Wish we could be in a book club together. xo
Yay! I love new book suggestions. I am constantly asking people what they are reading! I have read several this summer but they are super random..Just picked up The Lovely Bones out of grandma’s bookshelf!
I can’t wait to start these! Thanks!
Looks like some great reads! My favorite that I’ve read this summer is The Orphan Train. Such a good book!
