Looking Ahead to Labor Day Weekend
Anyone else REALLY looking forward to Labor Day weekend? I have a to do list a mile long, but it is full of fun and good things. Here’s what’s on the schedule.
Go swimming: It’s going to be hot and sunny in Nashville – perfect pool weather!
Garage clean-out: Our garage is a HOT MESS! We are having a junk hauling service coming on Saturday to remove a bunch of boards and old stuff that the former owner left us with, as well as a few other things, which will be incredible. (I bought a Groupon for the service, so it was also super affordable.)
I also need to do some major gift organizing (our gift storage area is in our garage). Christmas will be here before we know it, and with me being due at the beginning of January, I would like to be done with all Christmas shopping by the end of September. Thankfully, because of the Target toy sale and the DaySpring $5 sale, I am in good shape!
Shop for new bedroom furniture: Matthew and I have never purchased our own bedroom furniture – until now. We just ordered a new king-sized bed and now need to get some new furniture to go with it. Elias is going to get our bedroom set, Adeline is going to get Elias’s twin bed and the baby will get Adeline’s crib. (We don’t have a guest room, so by Elias getting our queen bed, we will be able to more easily accommodate guests. He can then sleep on an air mattress when people come to visit, which he thinks is a special treat!) My dad works in the furniture industry and he says Labor Day weekend is one of the best times of the year to shop for furniture.
I did find this beautiful bedding on Joss and Main last week and it already arrived. It’s ruffly, girly and very pretty – thankfully Matthew said I could get whatever I wanted – ha! I can’t wait to redo our room. (BTW, many flash sites have big sales labor day weekend, so be sure to check out Joss and Main, One Kings Lane, Zulily, etc.)
Make homemade pizza
One of the free Craftsy classes I signed up for this past week was “Perfect Pizza at Home.“Growing up, my Nanu made pizza from scratch every New Year’s Eve. I have such happy memories making pizza with him and I want to create those kinds of memories with my kids. After watching the instructional videos this week, I am totally inspired to make our own homemade pizza. (Sign up for this free class here.)
Work on book products: In addition to my book, The Fringe Hours: Making Time for You releasing in February, DaySpring will be releasing a product line to go with the book. Think cards, notebooks, organization tools, etc. I’m so excited about collaborating with them on the products, and I know y’all are going to love them. This weekend I need to get the copy written. (BTW, did you see the kind words Crystal on Money Saving Mom said about the book yesterday? So very grateful.)
Catch-up on Project Life: I’m still way behind on my Project Life album and with Project Life Tuesday just a few days away, I need to hunker down and get at least a few more weeks in my album. I’d love to get caught up through at least the end of June. Elias said he wants to craft this weekend and do a Kiwi Crate, so maybe we will just have a crafting afternoon!
What are your plans for the holiday weekend?

I’ve got Girl Scout troop leader training on tap, as well as Teddy’s baptism and a big Sunday lunch. We’ll hit the splash pad, ride bikes, and I’m determined to do a little sewing.
