I love this book. It’s so much more than your usual parenting book. It’s practical and step-by-step, but also inspirational, thorough and encouraging. Dr. Evans offers perspective on “creating an atmosphere where your kids can maintain their identity in Jesus Christ despite the culture around them.” I love that. So many people thing Christians “shelter” their kids. I’m more of the perspective of EQUIPPING my son and giving him age appropriate protection. This book is helping me connect and grow confidence as a parent with God. It’s more about influencing my son than controlling him, which I think is the difference between sheltering and equipping. Preparing our kids and giving them the foundation they need starts with us, parents! So affirming is one of my favorite quotes from the book, “Instructing your children in the Lord means spending time with them so they can see how you live out the gospel.” I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK for all parents.
