60th Birthday Party Inspiration
This summer my aunt turned 60 and our family threw her a surprise 60th birthday party. I was in charge of decorations, which were mostly provided by Minted. Since my forte tends to be baby showers and kids’ parties, it was fun to do something a little different.
Minted has a huge party decor collection. With being very sick in the first trimester of my pregnancy + flying in to Wisconsin for the party, Minted made it really easy to put together a really lovely 60th birthday party. We had all the decorations shipped directly to my mom’s house and assembled everything there. I also made a few easy elements, which I will share below.
I chose the Guapa party decor collection, which suited my aunt’s decor taste perfectly. I loved the hot pink with the yellows and sea foam green. It was perfect for a summer party.
We spread Guapa confetti throughout the appetizer buffet, along with a few old photos of Aunt Sandy on stands. Simple foods + cake stands + confetti made for a festive spread.
I loved all the elements from the party collection. They even had matching wine glass tags!
We combined the Guapa line with pieces from the gold glitter collection and vintage lace. It was so lovely! We used the banners everywhere – even on the deck rails.
We used a vintage lace tablecloth and a variety of banners to create a sweet photo backdrop. Photo backdrops always add a touch of fun and specialness to a party. They also ensure that you get lots of photos with the guests.
We hung the Guapa Happy Birthday banner in the trees in the backyard and got some great pictures with it in the background too.
Because it was Aunt Sandy’s 60th birthday, we wanted to have a few special elements honoring her 60 years.
We created a 60 out of two sheets of poster board + taped childhood photos, which we hung in the kitchen near the appetizer buffet.
We also had a survey asking questions from the year she was born.
Lastly, we printed a big poster (a free download from Petite Lemon) featuring facts about Aunt Sandy, which she loved.
I hope this inspires you the next time you have a party to throw – it doesn’t take much to make it lovely, especially with elements from Minted.
Thank you to Minted for supplying the Guapa and glitter party elements.
Your Aunt is one young looking 60 year old. Beautiful!
I agree! She looks great!
I cannot get over how much I adore the decor. So classic with a pinch of fun.
Jessica – this is absolutely beautiful. What a lovely way to celebrate your aunt. It is clear the party and the decor fit her perfectly – so classy, just the ideal amount of sass and sparkle. I love all of the personal touches you brought to the day. I’d say you can add ‘milestone’ birthdays to your repertoire 🙂
Jessica, you make any event more special just by being there, thanks for adding all these extra special touches for my birthday!
I had no idea they had decor as well as cards. Very cool. You did a BEAUTIFUL job.
We are getting ready to celebrate a milestone birthday in our family later this fall and these are great ideas to get me planning ~ thanks for so many GREAT ideas!

Very cool! I think of Minted as offering invitations, but never realized they have party decor as well!
