Easy Sam I Am Costume Tutorial
Today I am delighted to share how to make an easy Dr. Seuss Sam I Am costume. I made this costume for Adeline during Dr. Seuss week at her school, but thought this tutorial was perfect to share with Halloween right around the corner.
I have walked through the steps to making this Sam I Am costume in the video below (subscribers click here). It’s very easy, but is much easier to explain that write out. Watch the short video to learn how to make this Dr. Seuss Sam I Am Costume, which includes green eggs and ham.
Supplies you will need:
Yellow felt (will vary based on child’s age)
Red felt (1/4 yard)
Batting (for in hat – could also use crumpled paper)
Paper plate
Green felt (two sheets)
White felt (one sheet)
Paint stir stick (for sign)
White paper for sign
This is the second in my two-part series of easy DIY Dr. Seuss Costumes.

The costumes are so cute! Looks like your children love them. They both look so adorable. 🙂
This is adorable!
OMG! Love it!
I am much older than your daughter (almost 20) but I have added Sam-I-Am to my list of future costumes for local comic book conventions and am sitting on the bus thinking up Green Eggs and Ham rhymes while dressed as The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins. (My favorite 2 so far are “Green Eggs and Ham is really tasty, I hope mine doesn’t go to wastey.” and “Green Eggs and Ham is delicious, you see, I have brought enough for you AND me!”)
