A Little Fairy & New Shoes

Since having Adeline’s fairy party in June, the fairy craze has continued. Adeline loves to dress up and play pretend. Her imagination is incredible.

Last week, she was cleaning her room before school and found some wings to put on. I had just picked up some new, cute Stride Rite Surprize shoes at Target for her, so I asked if she would like to put them on and go be a fairy outside.

She immediately commented on the pretty sparkly silver color and that they fit perfectly. The grass was still wet with dew and the morning wasn’t yet too warm. We had a fun few minutes outside, her talking and pretending, me listening and snapping photos.

She spun and danced and it was magical to watch.

While waving her wand she said to me, “Mama, do you know what this wand can do? It can make the mailbox white. I like white better than black (the color of our mailbox is black.) You know what else it can do? It can bring the birds back (they flew away when we came outside). And it can give people who need shoes, shoes! It is amazing.”

We then talked a little bit about how we can help people who don’t have as much as we do. I love her heart and how she sees the world.

We then walked back inside to finish getting ready for school. Before going in, I snapped a quick picture of our shoes. As I did so, she hugged my leg and told me I was the best mommy in the whole world. It was a good reminder of the importance of 1:1 time with our kids, even a few minutes in the morning, can make a positive impact on them – and on you.
