Week 2 Without Matthew
Yay! We are halfway through Matthew’s month-long trip. Most of the week for Matthew was spent in Egypt. He saw so many incredible things, including the pyramids. Every day he sends videos to the kids. This was a favorite of mine this week, inside the tomb of Menna, from the 18th dynasty.
Matthew’s mom was here through Thursday morning, which was a huge blessing. She did so much laundry, helped Elias with homework, played countless memory games with Adeline and fed Ezra many bottles. Her loving hands left fingerprints all over the week and we were so sad to see her go.
We had some landscaping done this week and the front of our house looks so different. I am so excited for Matthew to see it.
Ezra has been cutting his top two teeth this week and has been a bit fussy. Tuesday and Wednesday night he was up every two hours. Then Thursday he slept 10 hours! GLORY!
Friday morning, a friend met me before taking the kids to school so I could take some pictures of Ezra in a big pumpkin. I will be posting more pictures later this week, but I CANNOT STAND how amazing they turned out. He is the cutest pumpkin ever — not that I am biased. 🙂
Also on Friday Elias had his big school fun run and fundraiser, so I worked from home so I could attend his noon run. That night, the kids and I attended a party at his school.
Saturday was spent putting laundry away and working on Halloween costumes. I had a feeling I would be working at the last minute this year, but that’s okay. They will get done! Saturday night, our friends the Larsons came over for pizza. It was good to have some company.
Yesterday I hired a baby-sitter for during the day so I could get caught up on some writing work. In the evening we had a wedding to attend. Unfortunately our time was cut short because Elias got suddenly sick and threw up at dinner. It was really terrible, but seemed to be a one-time episode, thankfully.
My Dad is driving down on Wednesday, so only a few more days on my own. We are looking forward to trick-or-treat on Saturday. Also, the annual Mom Creative costume photo link-up will be on Tuesday, November 3. I can’t wait to share our costumes and see yours!
I love this. I love you. Thank you for loving me so well, baby…
That video is adorable. Such a sweet way for the family to stay in touch while travelling.
