The Sweetest Circus Baby Shower
Looking to plan a circus baby shower? This post has all the decorations and party inspiration you need to plan the best circus baby shower.
This spring I hosted a circus baby shower for my colleague and friend Nina. She was expecting her first baby, a little girl and our office wanted to celebrate the blessing.
You might remember that I hosted a circus shower for my sister three years ago. I kept a lot of the decorations, but did a lot of things differently this time around (it was easier since I didn’t have to fly somewhere to host).
I love this theme and hope it is inspiring to you if you are planning a circus baby shower or party (many of the ideas could be adapted for a circus birthday party).
Circus Baby Shower Decorations
I wanted to keep things bright and simple, while still really play up the theme. I used a lot of red and white, with pops of blue and yellow.
Amazon has a plethora of circus party decorations which really made things easy for transforming our home to fit the theme.
Outside I had red buntings on the front porch, balloons and a circus welcome banner over the door.
I loved these circus cutouts! You get 12 in a pack (2 of each of the 6 designs) and I had them all over the house and deck. A must-buy for any circus party.
I made this sign using my cricut and had it positioned right as people walked out on the deck. IT WAS SO CUTE! I also bought striped circus pennants to wrap around the deck. They added SO much to the decor.
I cut a red and white tablecloth to wrap around the bar and for on the gift table. I also hung more of the cutouts next to the drinks sign.
Though we didn’t spend time in the living room, I took a few minutes to decorate our mantle with some white onesies and circus decorations from my stash.
Circus Baby Shower Photo Booth
We hung some brightly colored red, yellow and blue fabric to make a photo booth. I then hung a fabric bunting I made for my sister’s shower across the fabric.
You can see the set-up, using a backdrop stand, in the picture below.
This was a fun way to capture silly pictures of all the guests.
When it was time to open gifts, I placed a bench in front of the set-up, so we had a super cute background for photos of Nina.
The Table & Food
In the dining room I hung red and white crepe paper along the back wall and used a bright red and white tablecloth. I also had circus themed paper plates and napkins.
I kept the menu very simple. We served a big ham, baked pineapple, fresh fruit, macaroni and cheese, fresh salad and rolls.
Everything was served on red and white serving dishes.
I loved the animal cracker vase that I put in the center of the table (sorry I didn’t get a better photo, but you get the idea). I simply put a cup in the pitcher, then filled around it with the animal crackers. The cup held water for the flowers.
For the cupcakes, red tickets glued to toothpicks were simple and tied perfectly to the theme. (This make a photo booth recipe is my favorite!)
Circus Baby Shower Favors
I wanted to send everyone home with a little party favor. Popcorn was the perfect gift! I ordered these make a photo booth and filled bags with popcorn to put in each holder. They served as great decorations during the party, too!
Group gifts
As an office team, we wanted to give Nina a special gift from everyone. I found two ideas on Pinterest that were perfect for a circus shower. These would also be great for a “guest book” at a party.
The first was a signed copy of Dr. Seuss’s If I Ran the Circus in lieu of a card. Nina teared up looking at it.
The other gift was a little print of an elephant holding balloons that everyone signed (download here).
I cut the balloon circles in two shades of pink and attached them with small glue dots to give them some dimension. Some bakers twine completed the sweet gift.
Also, I have to take a minute to highlight my friend Michelle’s amazing circus car that she made in lieu of a diaper cake. (It was not a group gift, but it certainly could be made as one.)
She made it using two canvases and dowels. The pink elephant and make a photo booth tied perfectly to the theme. It was SO amazing.
Circus Party Game
I kept it simple with one game for everyone to participate in – guess how many peanuts are in the jar. It was easy and fun for guests.
All in all, this circus baby shower was an incredibly fun, bright party that I think Nina will always remember.
