5 Reasons Families Will Love This Asheville Cabin Community
For spring break, we knew we wanted to take a vacation that was drivable from Nashville. Because spring break was in March, we decided that a mountain vacation would be perfect, as the weather at nearby beaches isn’t very warm this time of year.
We love the mountains, so decided to get a cabin rental in Asheville, North Carolina. There are so many cabins to choose from in Asheville, and it can be difficult to know what is a good, convenient place to stay. We decided to stay at Mountain Springs Cabins, and I am so glad that I found it. It was the perfect Asheville cabin rental for our family.
5 Reasons Families Will Love This Asheville Cabin Community
The location
Mountain Springs is conveniently located just 15-20 minutes from downtown Asheville, as well as the Blue Ridge Parkway. One day we went shopping downtown and the next we drove to nearby waterfalls. It was perfect, particularly with having young kids who still need naps.
The cabins
Mountain Springs Cabins are nestled together in a charming little community near Asheville. In it are a variety of cabin sizes, yurts and tiny houses.
We stayed in Speckled Trout, a charming three bedroom, two bath cabin. It was decorated with sweet cross stitched and embroidered pieces, fish (staying true to its name) and antiques.
It also had lots of extras that you don’t normally find at a vacation rental, like hand soap, garbage bags and paper towels. So nice to not have to think of everything!
I also loved that they had a note in the refrigerator that if you left food, it would be donated to those who needed it in the community.
The cabin is located streamside, which our family really enjoyed. From sitting on the porch and listening to the current flowing over the rocks to skipping stones into the water, it was such a treat having the water right there.
The activities for kids
I was impressed by all there was to do for a family like ours, with three young children (ages 8, 5 and 2). The property has a playground (expanded one opening in Spring 2017), volleyball/badminton net, soccer goals, basketball hoop. The Mountain Springs office (located on the property) also had board games and a huge DVD selection available to borrow, for no additional fee.
As I mentioned, the stream was one of our favorite parts of the property. While we didn’t anticipate any fish (too cold!), we still tried! The kids were just as happy skipping rocks.
The size
The Mountain Springs Cabins community is small, making it very family-friendly. We loved that we could easily get around the entire community. We also loved that its small size made it that we could easily see the kids if they were playing outside and that we found it to be very safe.
The price
Stays in Mountain Springs start at just $110 a night, which is incredibly affordable for all that you get. For an additional fee, you can rent extras like a pack ‘n play. Our cabin was $195 a night ($205 during peak times). I can’t imagine staying at a hotel, when you can get a cabin in Asheville for such an affordable rate.
Moreover, Mountain Springs provides excellent concierge services, which really helped to make our stay memorable.
If you are looking to vacation in Asheville, I highly recommend staying at Mountain Springs. The Asheville cabin community can’t be beat and your family will enjoy your time there.
Disclosure: Thank you to Mountain Springs Cabins for hosting our family. All thoughts my own.
I love everything about this. 🙂 I live in Asheville, and I can’t say enough good things about our small city!
we had a family reunion there in july. it was great. they let us dam up the creek for a swimming hole. the people other than us joined right in to whatever we invited them for. I can not say enough good about this place. we had from less than a year old to in the sixies and EVERYONE had a great time. we played team tag with those glow necklaces at night. just a suggestion…if you go expect to have a really great time….
