An Easy Way to Save at the Movies This Summer
I noticed something while shopping for groceries this week – buying food will save me money at the movies this summer.
Our family loves going to the movies, but it is NOT CHEAP to go to the theater, especially if you add snacks. So I am always looking for coupons and ways to save money so that we can experience the movie theater at a more affordable price.
It turns out that many food companies are partnering with movies as a way to get people into the theaters.
For instance, I bought Cinnamon Life and every box includes a $5 off coupon for Cars 3. What was great is that the cereal was only $2.50 a box (on sale)! I also noticed that Quaker Granola bars had coupons for $3 off Cars 3 tickets.
When I combine the cereal coupon with a matinee price of $7.26, we will only pay $2.26 a ticket. My kids are SO excited to see Cars, so this was a no brainer to buy a bunch of cereal.
I also found marked Sunmaid Raisins packs that included a free daily sweepstakes giving away tickets for Captain Underpants (no purchase necessary).
Originally I figured these coupons would only be available for kids movies, but I was wrong. While checking out, I noticed that a lady had a 12-pack of Dr. Pepper in her cart. On the box was a $5 off coupon for Wonder Woman when you buy two cases.
Ezra’s teachers’ favorite drink is Dr. Pepper, so I bought each a case of Dr. Pepper and was able to submit my receipt to dedicated offer website to get the $5 off coupon. (It took about 3 days from the time I submitted my receipt until I received the coupon in my email.)
Matthew and I are planning to go see Wonder Woman next week, so this was a great way to save a little money for our date night. (The soda was on sale at Walgreens this week for $3 a case.)
The next time you are at the store, keep your eyes peeled for coupons to save at the movies! Look for coupons and sales using the flipp app to save even more money on these items.
What movies is your family looking forward to this summer?
This post is not sponsored in any way! I simply wanted to pass along a good deal.
Thank you for sharing! My son is so excited to see the Captain Underpants movie this summer. He’s a big fan of the books.
