Gift Idea: 3 Easy DIY Aprons
Right now Grove Collaborative is offering all new customers a free apron + a set of Mrs. Meyer’s seasonal scents.
The aprons are extremely well made. They are also a simple design, perfect for embellishing. I wanted to show you three easy ways you can embellish your free apron from Grove and make the perfect gift. These DIY aprons are all easy and fun, perfect for busy moms! Shown below are red aprons, but currently Grove is offering pink linen aprons for free.
1. Monogram Apron
I posted in a local community group on Facebook and found someone in my neighborhood who does monogramming. For less than $10, I was able to have a monogram added to the apron. A monogrammed apron would retail in a store for $30-$40, but when you get an apron for free from Grove, you can get one for just a fraction of that.
2. Handprint Apron
Perfect for a grandma, aunt or other special loved one, use some white paint and add your kids’ handprints to the apron. This took just a few minutes to do with my kids — and they loved it. I used puffy paint to add their names and the year. Honestly, I am going to keep this for me because I love it so much.
3. Ruffle Apron
Ruffles make everything prettier. I used just a bit of fabric from my stash and added a ruffle to the bottom half of the apron.
Get Your Free Apron

I love all of your apron ideas so please know that I only say this with the best of intentions (and on behalf of my teacher friends/family who would never say this parents), but don’t give your kid’s teacher an apron (or a mug, or a plate, etc.) with your kids’ handprints on it. My sister is a teacher and she has said to me when parents do that she wants to say, “I love teaching your kids, but they’re not my kids. Their handprints don’t mean the same thing to me.” I’ve had other teacher friends confirm that as well. Plus, they get more chotskies than anybody needs.
Most teachers make very little money, and often pay for classroom things out of their own pockets. Give them gift cards or cash. I had a teacher tear up when we parents decided to give her a cash gift for Christmas. She was incredibly grateful. But DEFINITELY give that apron to Grandma! : )
Yes, I totally agree with you. An apron with a single handprint from your kid would be weird. I was thinking an end of the year class gift, but your feedback makes perfect sense. I updated the post. 🙂
This is still coming through on my FB, 3 days after the closing date to take advantage of the freebies. Although the decorating ideas are cute, and undoubtedly part of the promotion, one would think that procuring a stronger customer base was your primary purpose. Please, either change the closing date for the free apron and scents with purchase, or remove this link.
Thank you.
