A Family Experience: Glamping Near Nashville, Tennessee
This glamping spot just 20 minutes outside of Nashville is the perfect getaway for a couple or family.
Our family has been sheltering at home since March and we desperately needed some time away. When a friend posted about her family’s weekend trip glamping just outside Nashville, I booked almost immediately.
Hayshed Farms on Big Turnbull Creek is a piece of heaven! Seriously, if you have never been camping, or if you love being outdoors, this is a wonderful option. Our family is not a camping family and we had the absolute BEST time glamping at Hayshed Farms. It was the perfect overnight trip and one that I know my kids will remember for years to come.
Glamping Near Nashville, Tennessee
The camp is located in Kingston Springs on the Hayshed Farms property, right along the ridge of the beautiful Big Turnbull Creek. Hosted by Randy and Leslie Liles, you’ll feel right at home on their charming farm. Their warm hospitality made our experience even better.
At the glamping location, you’ll find:
A large tent, outfitted with king-sized bed, dresser, chairs and electricity for lighting and fans is your comfy home base. It’s definitely glamping at its best! Randy and Leslie also provided a child-sized cot to help accommodate our family of five. Elias slept in a sleeping bag on the floor. You could easily fit a queen air mattress in front of the king sized bed. Plenty of room! The tent was stocked with many essentials including toothbrushes, wipes, lotions, soap, bug spray, a bucket of supplies for our dog and more. The tent was large enough for our family of five and dog to sleep in comfortably. It is a lovely glamping experience.
Outside the tent is an outhouse.
The Glampsite
The glampsite also includes a grill and portable propane stove, plenty of seating and a fire pit. You’ll find it is well-stocked with cooking utensils, skewers for cooking over the fire, paper products and everything you could need. We brought a cooler with frozen burgers, corn on the cob, fresh fruit and potato chips for an easy cookout. The site does not have a refrigerator, so a cooler filled with ice and drinks is essential.
A swing hangs from one of the massive trees and it was a huge hit with my kids. The property also has a big open barn where they host big events and my kids enjoyed playing with the giant Jenga set.
Glampers are invited to pick fresh produce from the garden that is planted next to the campsite. An abundance of lettuce, cabbage, peppers, blackberries and more are available.
At night, the site is lit up with lights strung from the trees.
Glamping Near Nashville on Turnbul Creek
Our favorite part of the property was definitely Turnbull Creek. We brought floats (a must!) and floated down the creek multiple times a day and had the best time. Definitely bring water shoes not water sandals to avoid having pebbles getting caught in your shoes. Also, while the campsite has a few towels, I recommend bringing beach towels. You can also fish in the creek. Be on the lookout for all sorts of creek life including crawdads, fish, frogs, beaver (I saw one climb right up on a rock!), and snakes (we saw a grown-up and a baby cottonmouth!).
